About me: Neal Shelton has over 25 years of Studio and Stage experience. Playing guitar has been a passion for him since the age of 15. He started out as many musicians do, listening to his favorite bands "Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Rush to name a few" on his stereo in his bedroom, immolating them with his guitar. He has played in many different bands including many styles such as Rock, Pop, Reggae, and Metal. Metal has been the style he has excelled in the most! At the age of 16 He took guitar lessons from one of the first GIT graduates, "Glen Lynski." Neal's first band was called "Nightwind", a 70's/80's Hard Rock cover band. Then another band of a similar style "Generation", but with some more main stream rock covers added in such as The Doors and The Rolling Stones, etc. At the age of 17 he formed an original band called Members Only along with long time friend and vocalist Chip Flowers. Members Only was a Rock/Pop/Reggae Style band, similar to The Police and other KROQ style bands of the 80's. Then Neal moved into the METAL SCENE joining Red Baron, an original Metal band sounding similar to Judas Priest, Metallica etc. After Red Baron, Neal got back together with Chip Flowers to form Scorch, an all original Hard Rock/Metal band. Scorch played many Hollywood clubs in the late 80's and early 90s such as The Roxy, The Whiskey, Gazzarris and The Central - Now The Viper Room playing along side bands such as, RATT, MOTLEY CRUE, and LA GUNS. In 1995 Neal decided to break away from original music for a while and formed "Don't Ask", an all around party band, playing a wide variety of music styles from Pop, Rock to Metal covers. Don't Ask has played many great events including the last El Toro Air Show, The Good Street Vibrations Motorcycle Rally in Reno and many others. In mid 1995 Neal found that he just couldn't stay away from writing original music so he formed Black Triangle an all original Metal band. A large percentage of the music was written by Neal Shelton. He also did some CO-writing with Randy Dees the other guitarist, as well as Michael Joseph Lead singer in the band. The song "No Way Out" was CO-written by Neal Shelton and Chip Flowers in the previous band Scorch then brought back to life with Black Triangle. The song "No Way Out" was used on NBC's The Pretender. It was used on the 1999 season finale called "The End Game". In 2000 Neal playing guitar and managed a very successful JUDAS PRIEST tribute band called PAINKILLER. Painkiller played many great shows including The House of Blues, Hollywood as well as Pink E's in Las Vegas. Neal is currently playing in as well as managing AEROMYTH "Aerosmith Tribute," PYROMANIA "Def Leppard Tribute," MONSTERS OF ROCK, "Arena Rock Tribute," and DISCO FREAKS, "70's Disco Tribute." These bands have played nationwide including Milwaukee Summerfest to an audience of 10,000, Arrowfest at the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater for Arrow 93.1 FM in Irvine, CA, as well as the Mark and Brian Poker Tournament for 95.5 KLOS plus many other festivals, night clubs and Casinos! Neal is currently endorsed by Dean guitars. Neal also owns a music store in Huntington Beach called, what else, Neal's Music. I have been fortunate to meet Phil Collen and Rick Allen of Def Leppard, but would also like to meet the rest of the band.
