Sounds Like
Taking their cue from such harmonizers as Fleetwood Mac, The Mamas and The Papas, and CSNY, The Near Myths are eclectic New Millennium vagabond mongrels, infusing traditional folk-rock and pop with a thoroughly contemporary sensibility.
The Near Myths are six old friends who finally got together in July 2004 to record that CD they'd always talked about. The CD was recorded in a small studio in Wilson, NC, which is one (but only one) reason The Near Myths' debut CD is titled WILSON. All but one of the Myths are from the southeast U.S. The "odd Myth out" is the group's token Canadian. (Seriously, how can you call yourself a band if you don't have at least one Canadian?) All six members are accomplished vocalists, and so it's no surprise that one of The Near Myths' strong points is vocal harmony. All six are also multi-instrumentalists, and four are songwriters. Their new album, WORDS TO BURN, will be released in January 2008.
Congrats on the success on Indiemusic. Love the tunes!!! Your songs bring back memories and evoke a sense that the past is not gone...And the future is slowing down.. Cheers to all of you, Steve Robinson
Myths, Tennessee Tech won't know what hit 'em in March! I'm sure we'll sell at least a couple of discs there. Stay in touch and we'll coordinate battle plans for the war of love! ~teep~
Today may be the day remembered as "the day the music died"...but you can't prove it to The Near Myths, who are still very much alive, both here and yonder!
Thanks for adding me. “Fool Me Once” is a great song - nice harmonies. And I especially like the photo that accompanies it! Keep up the good work. It's good to see you on the LWW site Greetings from Nova Scotia, Avard
