- BIOGRAPHY
Necrolatry is a five-piece death metal act from Tromsø, Norway. Necrolatry have always made melodic death metal, but incorporate different metal genres and creates something unique. As "metal-norge.com" once wrote: "Necrolatry comes into their own sub-genre of metal, they're easy to like, but no one can accuse them of writing commercially acceptable songs. As in the song "Abducted By Death" the band goes from total deathgrind feeling to melodic breakdowns that sets the music apart from the rest and makes it interesting”
IIt all started in late 2006 with Eirik Tonstad (drums), Birger Dahl (guitars), Daniel Åsli (guitars) Tage Kristoffersen (bass) and Anders Lambersøy (ex-Iskald, Vocals). Early 2007, the band recorded a four song demo at Driv in Tromsø, which was made available on their MySpace page, and received good reviews. In late 2007 Al joined on guitar and added more technicality, brutalism and melody to the songs. In 2008 Necrolatry got a new drummer, Ivar Sælen and recorded an 8-track EP entitled “Absolute Zero”, which is available in online stores (iTunes and Amazon..etc) and you can get an EP for free if u contact the band.
In 2009 Anders and Ivar moved out of town and was replaced by Simon Theodorsen (Betablok) on vocals and Aki Viitula (Dead by dawn) joined on drums; who offered an entirely new level of professionalism and technicality to the band.
Necrolatry is currently working on songs for a new album. The new Necrolatry songs have changed into a more brutal and technical twist, mixed with the old Necrolatry-style.
