Nedjma's sound is refreshingly warm and sentimental to the hip hop lover, invigoratingly bold to the jazz connoisseur, and a knowing wink to anybody that's ever had the blues. Nedjma's lyrics are what you get when you desert a New Yorker in the heart of Europe, leave him a pen and paper, and drench him under the faucet of life. Nedjma's instrumentation is what you get when you combine groove music, with master players and a fierce dedication to synergetic compositions. Nedjma could not have existed in any other generation. this project is a testament to the changing world dynamic. A global economy has lead to global artistic exchange and collaboration. Our planet gets smaller, and dare we say, simpler, as modern technology brings people together from separate walks of life. Yet, in this project, paris and new york find that they are not so different. This is evidenced by the common fantasies citizens of each have of the other. What a perfect experiment for new musical territory! This project is a signal of the promise the future holds for international musical collaboration. this project was recorded in both Paris and new York. the band manages to capture the essence of both locales. the product speaks to a new international music lover, unsatisfied by conventional combinations of their local taste-makers. paris gave new york its finer aesthetic sensibilities in art, fashion, and in many ways, politics. New York gave Paris hip hop. fair exchange? you decide...
