Car crashes are the number 1 killer of teens in Sonoma County, as well as the rest of the nation. Speed, distractions, and lack of seatbelt use are the primary causes of death and injury to teens in car crashes.
Need for Control: Down Shift is a peer-led project in 10 of the largest high schools in Sonoma County. We will be holding quarterly rallies or assemblies at each high school and everyone turning 16 will get a safe driving kit. The kit will include many tools and resources to help you drive safely.
Our Mission: To prevent death and injury from car crashes among teens by reducing speed and distractions while behind the wheel.

TO EVERYONE! Please be smart drivers, and know the concequences of your actions. I don't want to lose anymore friends due to car accidents or anything else for that matter. We lost Kevin Carr last Thursday 3/20 (RIP), and now I have to deal with my friend Chris who was put into a coma after having brain surgery. I just can't deal with losing anymore friends! We're way to young to die; we're supposed to die peacefully in our sleep of old age. So please just slow down and be a more cautious when driving. With all my love, Kimberly (RCHS)
