Bio
The Neighborhood Boys formed in 2005 when Lynn, John and Steve, who are all neighbors, got together to play at the annual neighborhood chili mixer. But no history of The Neighborhood Boys would be complete without a trip back to the 60's and a band from Columbus, Ohio called The Dantes... Lynn Wehr was an original member of The Dantes, who scored a No. 1 regional hit with "Can't Get Enough of Your Love". The Dantes built a large following and opened for such acts as Jimi Hendrix, The Byrds, Roy Orbison, Neil Diamond, Them, The Turtles and many more... After the breakup of The Dantes in the late 60's, Wehr put his musical ambitions on hold for the better part of 35 years, until called upon to provide entertainment for the famous neighborhood chili mixer of 2005. The show was a huge success, and The Neighborhood Boys were born... In late 2006, the band was called upon again to rock the annual chili mixer. The band ventured out of the neighborhood to bring in bassist Greg May. The show was another big hit and the fuse was lit. After several months of rehearsals, the band played it's first public show at Eldorado's on March 14, 2007... Since then, the band has played regularly at Eldorado's and other venues around town, including back-to-back shows at The Our Lady of Victory Festival in August. In the fall of 2007, the band added Jonathan Hanson, a full blooded "neighbor", on keyboards. Chis Blackburn, son of guitarist John Blackburn, sits in on drums whenever the band can fly him in from Virginia where he resides... -
