Hi, we are Neil and Julie Smith. We have lived in and around Mansfield all of our lives. Neil has played solo and in bands from his late teens but the duo began in 1997 when Julie decided that she wanted to sing.
We have performed at many venues since then including the Maze, Golden Fleece, Bar None (Nottingham), Stute (Ilkeston), Crown (Higham), Woodlark (Lambley), Town Mill (Mansfield), Fishpond (Matlock), Red Lion (Farnsfield) using mainly our own material.
We have re-recorded fourteen of our old songs and three new ones for an album entitled 'The best tracks 2002 to 2008' which is NOW AVAILABLE you can listen some of the songs and order a copy ON OUR WEBSITE. We sing part-time for fun but we enjoy opportunities to play longer sets at pre-booked gigs.

Ah, bless you! Thanks for the kind words (I've got a new song on THIS site, called Negative Pressure, which I'm really pleased with...Dez Preston and I performed it at Willington last Thursday. We'd both had a bit more to drink than is wise if you are playing, so the timing was a bit wayward). Gemma and I would both love to come and take part in some of clubs, oop north! We've been feeling we should spread our wings a bit. Hope to see you there. Thanks again, Matt
Hiya Sorry about the confusing "Johnny Two-Sites" thing, but thanks for visiting both. It was great to meet you both, and Gemma and I loved all of the songs you did: great harmonies, proper sing along choruses, and lyrics that have pathos AND are entertaining. As a pair you seem to have a real ear(s) for a interesting melody. But I'll tell you what really stood out...you both seemed to enjoy yourself so much, and I think that is really infectious. We look forward to seeing you again. Cheers Matt (& Gemma) P.S. thanks for the CD, I have been on a 12 hour shift at work today so I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but it'll be getting an airing this weekend.
Haha! No, I have to confess, neither did I! Great to meet you though and really good to finally hear you :) I think you have a wonderfully original sound, interesting ear for a tune and harmony and some of the most fun lyrics I've heard in ages! Haha. Chicken Tikka will never be the same to me again!!!
I hope we'll see more of you at the RMC and I am gonna spend Saturday morning listening to the CD you so kindly gave me.
As you know, I am very good friends with the real Captain Condom, and he has been hassling me to hassle you for another copy of your CD, featuring the imfamous track!!! I see you are at the Pond on the 23rd, so he will be delighted (he only lives round the corner) and wil be sure to attend. Hopefully you have another CD he could buy from you? Maybe even signed? :-) He will be really chuffed to finally meet you both! He is top chap Chris, and he is excessively fond of your music! Hope you are both in good health, and hope to see you on the 23rd Feb. Colette x
