Neil Clark is a Scottish born Toronto based guitarist and composer. He has scored two films, a television series and many short form pieces in addition to writing his own material and co-writing songs with Lloyd Cole, Chris Thomson, Gwen Swick and others. He has also produced recordings for himself and the Sleeping Dogs and Heater film soundtracks. His first solo album SUNDOGS was released through iTunes worldwide in December '08.
Prior to his time in Toronto Neil was known as the guitar player and co-writer of the U.K. based group Lloyd Cole and the Commotions who achieved international success with their three studio albums and tours. Popular Commotions songs are, Rattlesnakes, Are You Ready To Be Heartbroken and Lost Weekend which he co-wrote, Brand New Friend - their biggest international hit, Perfect Skin - their first release, and early Britpop classic Forest Fire, featuring his lead guitar playout. His playing with the Commotions which blended elements of modal folk picking with post bop jazz and rock caught the ear of a number of artists and during the 1990’s he worked with Canadian singer/songwriter Mae Moore, French artist Axelle Renoir, and Scottish groups, Bloomsday and the Bathers.
Neil has also maintained his involvement with Lloyd Cole, playing on almost all of his solo albums to date, including the most recent, Antidepressant, to which he contributed electric, slide and acoustic guitar. He continues to apply his unique guitar voice to projects in the Toronto area and further afield.

Well.. In addition to (Wonderful guy) Tim..s greetings, I say; Happy New Year! (GOTT NYTT ÅR!) I have a wet dream, that I..ve shared (or perhaps inflicted) with many of the wonderful musicians, who has played with LC.. and that is.. not a reunion, but simply You, Lloyd Cole, Blair Cowan, Dave Derby and Rafa Maciejak making an album and/or playing together... It won..t be realized, but.. it..s a dream..s dream... Take care!
Happy Christmas Neil. Thanks to the Sundogs download I had a nice relaxing car trip; in the sun, down Victoria's winding Great Ocean Road. Soothing music that matched the dramatic scenery. Regards from Oz
hi neil - great to hear from you. yes, too long. the sundogs tracks sound excellent. met up with LC last time in the US. let's get together next time I am in toronto - keep well - andy
I have to agree with Paul Spencer below, a defining moment in your recorded guitar output is the solo in Forrest Fire. Not to mention the other great rhythms and solos throughout your work. Your guitar is often in tune with Lloyd's lyrics and voice. You have also co-written some great songs. These new tracks have broken some new ground, and are relaxing and interesting to listen with a sense of space. Sadly I have not seen Lloyd and yourself together live...perhaps.... Regards from Oz. Tim
