Sounds Like
Extremely diverse, I've written material from the hard rock of Saturday Night to a kind of holiday dream trance of Golden Sands!
I just like creating material from nothing - In my opinion it'd be a shame to leave this planet, leaving behind nothing but dust. My ambition both with my own material and in my performances with all my bands is to entertain people, give them a good night and leave them feeling good!
AND.... The Shine sounds like THIS!!
........
AND HERE'S A TRIBUTE TO ABEL GANZ!!!!
Welcome to MySpace!
For 20 odd years I'd been doing bass duties with various Central Scotland bands (full details on my own website www.mackieonline.co.uk). At the start of 2004, I had the great pleasure of meeting Andy Keates and between us we put together The Shine. Following very close behind I was delighted when Iain Wilson agreed to renew aquaintance and take up the drum throne.
So that's now....
This MySpace is really more about me. My influences are not necessarily Shine influences. I listen to, like and appreciate a diverse range of musical styles. On here, I'll try to offer a few changing samples of original material I have written over the years. Have a listen and always bear in mind, it's all copyrighted and IT'S FRIGGING MINE!!
Iain and I finished my "solo" album - "It Can't Rain All The Time" back in December. Some sample tracks are on this site - hope you enjoy them as much as we did making them. We're actually really proud of the end result.
Musically my first love is the progressive end of the spectrum. Check out my good mates Abel Ganz and also the brilliant prog artists in my top friends!! We shall rise again and show Britain and the world what talent means and that you don't have to play guitar at a million notes a second! Bring on the Moog, the Melotron and the Fairlight!!!
I've also recently got into the Scottish Burlesque scene - don't worry, as a keen supporter rather than a performer (at this stage). This was inspired by my good lady's interest and inspiration of Miss Gypsy Charms & Miss Viva Misadventure! The thing I love about this community is there's less of a comptetive edge than the band circuit and seems to be a bond between everyone. This is the way life should be!!
Visit us also at www.theshineonline.co.uk or me at www.mackieonline.co.uk
Take care, have fun, best of love and keep the music alive!!
