In July 2009, long term bassist Keith Seymour left Neils Children. Drummer Brandon Jacobs has said "There is no animosity between us. We wish him all the best for whatever he wants to do in life. We were obviously very upset by the news, but John and I decided to carry on. We founded the band and feel we still have lots more interesting music to make"
A willingness to use the line-up change as a chance to experiment, John and Brandon have added Electricity In Our Homes' Charlie Boyer (bass) and Paul Linger (percussion, samples) to the fold: "It seemed a natural thing to do...we are close friends with EIOH and have been working alongside them for some years. We share many musical influences and reference points. There's no saying that this line-up will be final, but at the moment its working out really well" says guitarist/singer John Linger.
The new line-ups' debut live shows were for the Artrocker/Converse New Blood tour in September 2009. The shows consisted of 5 tracks taken from the recent album release 'X.ENC', taken into a less structured, less "3 minute song" territory: "Part of our strength as a band from day 1 has been the psychedelic, improvisational aspect of our live shows...we have always been aware that this is generally when things get really interesting on stage so we decided to work this into some of the more structured tracks from the album. Its was just a case of choosing which tracks it would work best with" say John.
The set was also notable for the inclusion of the first new song to be written since the release of May's "X.ENC". Written by John on the bands Japanese tour in June 2009, the song was demo'd the week after Keith left the band by John, Brandon and Paul. "Front on Backwards" is planned to be part of a new E.P scheduled for late 2009/early 2010 which is to feature 4-5 new songs.
With forthcoming European tours and UK dates, the future for the new Neils Children line-up looks good, John; "We are just going to keep our music moving forward, developing the sound and keeping things interesting for not only us but our fans. We are aware that there are going to be things that people miss about our line-up featuring Keith, as there was with the line-up featuring James, but we wouldn't be happy trying to recreate something with new members when they have different skills they can add to what we do".
So there you have it...One of the most influential and long running bands to come out of the London independent music scene over the last 10 years have decided to roll with the punches. Make sure you catch this incarnation and witness the progression that makes this band so special.

Back with a new ethereal sound, THE HORRORS bring material from acclaimed Mercury Nominated second album Primary Colours (produced by Geoff Barrow of Portishead) to a live setting. Bringing to mind My Bloody Valentine, The Psychedelic Furs and The Jesus and Mary Chain and yet achieving a sound that is also contemporary and unique, their new album is sure to top the best-of lists for 2009. Faris and his impeccably dressed cohorts from Southend make their return in layer upon layer of distortion. As Drowned in Sound said recently, "All eyes are once again on The Horrors, and this time it's not just the usual hyperbole prone culprits salivating in anticipation. Even typically level-headed critics are getting into a frothy mess." Tickets from www.ticketweb.co.uk 08444 771000 www.seetickets.com 0870 264 3333

£leTriKa sounds completely different from any Metal band you have ever heard. The Brazilian rhythms and the Portuguese language added to the songs makes its style unique, giving birth to a new kind of Metal. If you are really looking for something new about Metal, you should check £leTriKa out!
