Summer UK Tour Stories 2006

Last year, Finn Mc Ardle and I were the headliners of the Neilston Festival which is in the village of Neilston outside of Glasgow. This year, we headlined the Pub Fest of that same festival and had such an enjoyable gig. Mary Kathleen Burke who organized the Pub Fest is also a wonderful Scottish singer who performed first followed by our pals the John Hinshelwood Band and then Finn and me. I asked all the people to move up close in a semi circle. I sat down and played some songs I dont normally play to this delightfully attentive group of folks. The night was very special...warm and magic.
We drove 6 hours the next day back to the Leicester area and had a great dinner gathering with friends in that area who took us to a Mexican Restaurant where the fajitas I had were pretty frigging good. Could have been the multiple pints of Stella that proceeded the fajitas or the good company of the pals or the fact that the next day wed head off for London and my annual gig at the 12 Bar Club. Whatever it was, the bubble was fully loaded, and the visit was perfect.

Charlie McGettigan started his musical career in the 1960s heavily influenced by artists like the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and all the high profile names of that period. He played everything from ballrooms to the then emerging pub scene so that he could gain experience at all levels of the entertainment industry. When he moved to Dublin in 1968 he honed in on the thriving folk scene there at that time. His influences then were people like Paul Brady, Donal Lunny and Andy Irvine and, having played electric guitar up to then, he purchased his first acoustic guitar concentrating on developing the finger picking style, which is now his stock in trade. Moving to the rural environment of Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim in 1973, Charlie formed the highly successful Jargon group, which went on to win the prestigious Letterkenny Folk Festival, following in the footsteps of bands like Clannad and Pumpkinhead. About The Neilston Live Barfest 2005-2006
Hello and welcome to the fringe of Neilston 'Live'! - Barfest 2006!
My name is Mary Burke and I was asked last year by an organisation called 'Space to Live' if I could put together and programme a bar festival to run alongside and compliment the main festival. The festival proved to be a huge success which I hope to repeat this year. I have based the bar-fest on my graded unit in musical performance and promotion and intend to seek sponsorship for this years and future festivals. This year I am very lucky to have formed a team of local people to help out in the many tasks involved. For further information on Neilston Live please visit www.neilstonlive.co.uk.
The festival itself will take place between the 4th and 13th of August.
This year we hope to raise the festivals profile furthermore with support from friends out-with the village borders in the form of bands, singers, songwriters and musicians who have been invited to entertain us as well as the homegrown talent we have among us.
Please check out the gig section for details of shows (we'll be adding to this regularly), we hope to see you at one or many! If there is anything you feel you would like to add to the barfest, please feel free to contact myself or Sharon Campbell via this space.

Hey Neilston Live Barfest 2006,
We may have already corresponded, but if so, here's a friendly reminder that we still exist! If you're new to Treehouse, we'd just like to say thanks for thinking of us!
We took our time writing and producing our songs, and we'd like to encourage you to enjoy listening to the arrangements with headphones, and also pay attention to the lyrics, which are inspired by love, truth, beauty, and suffering.
Hope you enjoy the music!
