Born in 1971, aquarius.
I picked up drums at the age of 15teen, performing with new wave, punk, hard core bands. Later I had some lessons from an older friend of mine (Emilio) but practiced mainly on my own. Many gigs and recordings were done with a cabaret group playing jokes (Nuovi Cedrini).
At the age of 26 I’ve met Enrico Lucchini, a deep man and wise jazz drummer, I still consider him “the teacher”. This is how I’ve got closer to jazz. A lot of inspiration came by Billy Harper and Reggie Workman, later, I’ve met them in Maribor some years ago.
Appetite for new things led me to play with cross-over, psychedelic, post rock bands such as Lecrevisse, Il Generale Inverno or with folk singers as Marco Giacomozzi, Maler. Some recordings of those experiences have been released.
In the last few years I’ve been experimenting jazz in various ensembles, composing music for reading performances or art exibitions, writing and recording music in some kind-of-jazz-projects, melting with electronics into the deep funk.
Bands I’m supposed to play in today: Three Magic Beans, Igor Bezget Trio, Beatnik Spears, Tinpong, Giulio Corini Libero Motu and -of course- my first personal project called Leibniz. Our recording, titled "No leader", is ready and will be released in fall by Jazz Engine.
I've also founded an improvvised music project for acoustic instruments only, named Einfalt. CD have been released in 2008 by EGR Records, cover photos by E's beloved eye. I recently joined Patrizia Laquidara's band in the process of restyling Funambola
I had great feelings playing with my brother Roberto, the first guy I used to jam with.
I've been also lucky to perform with many other guys, some of them are famous some are not; it doesn't really matter.
