Almost anything creative, writing, drawing, painting. Programming, software development, graphic design, digital art, and digital music production. Fantasy, scienc-fiction, anime, and manga. Debate, philosophy, religions, and ancient history. Gaming, table-top role-playing games, and game design. New ideas. I’m somewhat a futurist. Theoretical physics, quantum and string theory, and m-theory. Philanthropy and helping others, volunteering, and donating time and effort to making the community better (both locally and globally). Politics. Good movies, music, books and graphic novels. Martial arts and weapon fighting. Late nights with good friends spending hours-on-end pondering the universe and reality. I am a stern believer in Causality -- you could almost call it my religion. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, though I don’t get to even half as often as I’d like.

  • Movies

Some of my favorite movies are: A Clockwork Orange, 1984, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, What Dreams May Come, A Scanner Darkly, The Number 23, Pulp Fiction, The Matrix Trilogy, Zardoz, American History X, Tekkon Kincrete, Trainspotting, Fight Club, 12 Monkeys, Children of Men, Donnie Darko, Momento and quite a few others.
  • Television

Honestly I use my television more for XM Satellite Radio than I do to watch programming. However, I do watch (have watched) random shows and programs on the Science Channel, Discovery, and History Channel, FLCL (Best Anime Series Ever Created), Full Metal Alchemist, Firefly, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Lost, The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, just about everything on Adult Swim, and anything else I might find when I stop long enough to flip through the channels.
  • Books

My living room is literally a library; the walls are lined with books. I’m an avid proponent of literacy, and am greatly disappointed when I hear people say that they don’t read books (I can’t understand why someone would choose to be illiterate). That being said, what I read depends highly on my current mood. I love reading, and over the years have read... a lot. I read mostly non-fiction, historical, and science books. However, I also read quite a bit of fiction as well. I am a huge fan of good fantasy novels, among my favorites are the Dragonlance novels written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, and any Forgotten Realms novel written by R. A. Salvatore. I also read quite a bit of science fiction as well; among my favorites is the Dune series. I can always depend on a Terry Pratchett novel for a good laugh. I also enjoy the works of Jack Kerouac, William Irwin Thompson, George Orwell, Daniel Quinn, Sylvia Plath & Yusef Komunyakka (my favorite poets), and of course the works of Roman Dirge (Lenore is hilariously great). There's just far too much I've enjoyed reading to try and list them all.

Current Book I'm Reading: The Philosophy of Right (Grundlinien der Philosophie des Rechts) by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
  • Heroes

I believe the word "hero" pertains only to an aspect of a person in which one aspires to mimic; a term of admiration for the particular actions of one individual. In this sense, there are many people I carry a deep heartfelt respect for.

    Karama Connection

It's not often that I ask my friends and family to invest in a good cause. I do my own thing for my own reasons, and I never feel right giving a “pitch” to ask for donations. That being said, I would still like to bring to light an organization called Karama Connection. Their sole purpose is to support St. Lucia Orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania. It is a small orphanage (around 30 children) of orphaned HIV positive children. Karama Connection is not a large organization with the typical bureaucracy of most charitable foundations. It's real everyday people, doing real work, for a really good cause. And, that strikes a chord with me. They have my full support, and I'm asking those who know me, each month, to give up a spare pizza, a couple movie or game rentals, or that next morning latte or cappuccino and instead invest in the lives of these children. I would greatly appreciate it, they will greatly appreciate it, and you'll feel good knowing that even a very little bit can help make a big difference in someone's life. Check out the Karama Connection MySpace profile or their website. If you can sign up to dontate $10 a month, Click Here.

My Development Projects:

Web-Based Content Management System (2007-2008) --
After being with my firm for several months, it became apparent that there was need for website content management for our clients. Before my arrival there were several “canned” products utilized by the company, however none of them really suited our clients' needs, and they were a pain to customize in any way. So, in 2007 I set about on developing from the ground up our very own CMS system. Now being used on nearly fifty of our client websites, it's become a staple of the web development team. The application includes multi-accounts with tiered access levels, inline file-management, WYSIWYG content management, multi-templates and skinning, dynamically generated menus, dynamically generated breadcrumbs links, dynamically generated site map, among many other features including inline flash and video integration, as well as photo management. It's a complete package that can handle just about anything thrown at it.

Phishing Tracking Technology (2006-2007) --
Phishing (or identity theft) is a major economical issue world wide. In response to the requests of clients I went about conceptualizing a method of tracking and holding legally liable individuals who engage in this crime. This lead me to create a new and never before utilized technology. Unfortunately I cannot in depth explain how this technology functions, or the clients who utilize it. I can share that the technology has been a resounding success leading to the busting of phishing rings before they can even successfully launch their attack against banks, investment organizations, and payment processing companies halting would have otherwise been substantial monetary losses to the clients. This project has also given me the opportunity to work with the United States FBI and the United States Department of Justice to better hone the technology. I’m very proud to be the creator and developer of this technology, not only for the unique opportunity to be apart of a new technology, but also because I see phishing as the most repulsive and cowardly form of theft. Currently the technology is in the process of copyright and trademark proceedings, but I look forward to seeing it utilized with increasing frequency in the near future.

Transportation Scheduling System (2005-2006) --
My client for this project was the regional transportation coalition. This coalition consisted of over a dozen individual transportation solutions as well as the city-wide transportation. The coalition was formed into a response to a state-funded mandate to better manage local transportation in the regional counties by utilizing not only buses, but taxi services, and van transportation solutions. The need was for a normalized and unified scheduling system so all the separate companies could communicate and work in unison. This solution was an in-depth scheduling system driven by ASP and MySQL. It handled routine trips as well as custom trips, and provided an advance account system where central management could pass down transportation requests to the relevant service. It included dynamic mileage calculation as well as on-screen route maps. The application also prepares and transmits a series of reports required by the state government. This solution has been utilized by regional transportation for going on four years. There have been minimal updates and additions to the software, but essentially the core remains the same as it was on the final production date.

Production Efficiency Monitoring Interface (2004-2005) --
My client for this project was an international production company. They had half a dozen plants worldwide, and over a hundred machines they needed a dependable interface to monitor production efficiency to better increase the validity of their forecasting reports. This project was my solution to their request: a MS SQL driven application that utilized several compatible sensor technologies on the myriad of machines to log the data. A predefined quota for each was defined by management, and utilized to output efficiency reports. These reports were translated into color-coded easy-to-understand display screens which were fed to massive plasma screens hung high from the ceiling near each group of machines. This way the plant workers could monitor their own efficiency, and the management could monitor from anywhere in the world through a VPN-based back-end. It also consisted of an alert system, and would log error codes for the machines to notify the proper engineer/maintenance personnel with the cause of the error the moment that it occurred so said personnel would arrive immediately on scene, with the proper tools, and fully aware of the reason for the machine downtime.

Automated Sales & Inventory Forecasting (2002-2003) --
This project was for a major manufacturing company who required accurate sales forecasting and inventory forecasting for their products. It required advanced integration into the sales systems for many chain stores including Kmart, Walmart, Sears, Kohl's, Dollar General, Target, and JC Penny for over one thousand individual items. The application pulled relevant item data on a daily basis from the many sales/inventory systems and generated relevant weight-able reports that included pre-defined schemas for regional, seasonal and micro-marketing reports. It also integrated these reports into at-a-glance 'plan-o-gram' reports for product placement in the individual stores locations. This application also integrated dynamically with NPD consumer marketing reports to allow for the detection of upcoming trends based on consumer product consumption.
