When you think of raw power or ability, what do you think of? Do you think of a storm with gale force winds ripping houses and trees asunder from coast to coast? Do you think of an athlete with inbreed physical prowess, strength, and stamina dominating whatever track or field he lands on? Do you think of a scrawny, South-Central rapper in his early 20's? I'm sure I can check yes to the first two but the latter may be a bit of a throw off, but maybe it shouldn't. Few artists, signed or unsigned, have the raw natural ability of Rich For A Reason. Born Richard Wright on December 23 of 1986 he's been a wonder from inception. After being abandoned at birth by his biological mother, he was rescued and for a brief spell lived in a foster home where, ironically, he was a selective mute. Once adopted, by the woman he considers his true mother, he flourished. Tragically, she passed away in his formative years as a pre-teen, yet sometimes even in loss we gain. He notes her unfortunate death as his inspiration to write, not necessarily raps but something. Over time, as his love grew for Hip Hop and rap music, he decided to try on the shoes of an MC. Like a duck to water, he took. Initially he excelled as a battle rapper with a reputation spreading from street to street, high school to high school. But his interests and aspirations pushed him to take on the role of an artist. He linked up with a team of artist, each with their own unique spin on music, and has been a rolling rock ever since. In a short period of time, he has put out (in addition to other countless recordings) two widely respected mixtapes: Premeditated Murder and, the freshly completed, 808's and Heart Tape (exclusively produced by RC for RC Productions). He's been seen at many respected venues such The Spliff (held at The Rehab), Sean Healy Productions (held at the Knitting Factory), and the world-renowned Project Blowed. He credits Jay-z, Andre 3000, Slick Rick, and the members of his circle as his main influences.
