expression .. . .
cursing the darkness ...
the human condition and what makes it that way
making people actually THINK
uhm .... cursing the darkness ...
making people FEEL
making people RESPOND
did i mention cursing the darkness?
breaking pop cultures clay feet
oh yes . . . getting published would be fun too .. .
and that whole cursing the darkness thing we poets are supposed to do
Music
most anything but rap .. .
... and opera
... and "today's country"
... and today's "pop music"
Movies
dead poets society (you had to see that coming)
Television
if life was a golf game, television would be its sand trap .. . . a quick sand trap, in fact
if life was a human body, television would be its hemmorhoids
Books

About me: Say ....not to ruin any ASPCA rules and regulations for safe and happy pet ownership, and those who would subscribe to such status, but my leash is in loving hands already. . sorry. well, actually, i am not that sorry, i tend to like doing tricks for her A LOT.
A REAL LOT.
and what is the deal with this sudden compulsion to validate oneself through ownership of another life form? another person in fact. is this a bush thing? was i asleep when the group decided this would be a fun way to pass time?
and why wasn't i consulted?
is this the same group that voted in florida in 2000 and ohio in 2004?
and correct me if i am wrong, but didn't this whole "hey! let's go out and own us another human being" idea help start some civil war some years back? i might be a little foggy here on my history, but i am pretty sure i am right.
and some 100 years later there were marches and a lot of really unnecessary assassinations. (yes! they were unnecessary. ask that kennedy clan especially.)
do we really want to go down that road again?
sure it's funny until someone puts an eye out . . . (of course then it can be damned hilarious)... but a country of one-eyed people is STILL HALF BLIND.
can you dig it?
ps . . . has anyone stopped to really consider how some will feel if they see themselves bought on the cheap while others in that same "kennel" were purchased for so much more?
(dig... i know i am no pedigree and have a relatively THICK SKIN for this sort of musical chairs game, and would drop a big ole fuming, stinky loaf anyway on the carpet at the dog show just to show what kind of respect i have for those gatherings.)
what an odd way to broadcast how some owners feel about some of their recent acquisitions, yes? forget about fighting over where one winds up on the friends' top 40 weekly countdown. this one will really stir the embers!
quite nothing in the world like being sent the message that "yes. we consider you to be that obscenely over-sized aunt who bathes in all that perfume but STILL forgets to shave above her upper lip, scaring the kids to death that she will want a big hug and kiss from them all, or the one drunk uncle who can't keep his hands off any of our spouses or his face out of his own meal, but we still had to invite you to thanksgiving anyway."
oh yes . . . ABOUT ME. . . .
poetry is a mirror, of sorts .. . reflecting what the world costumes itself in . . .
it seems vastly undervalued in this false age of the new millenium's dawn . . .
poetry, if we listen, speaks to an inner awareness yearning for something to call "beautiful," to call "truth" if, but for that moment in time .. .. something for us to hold onto as "meaning" ... .
rhyme never really was phonetics . . . it just sounds that way . . .
check the blogs for poems i write daily . . .
feel free to leave a comment too (hint hint)
Who I'd like to meet: the failed poet who decided that rhyming was low brow literature and criminalized it . . .
everyone else who bought into that hooey ..

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
