Since its birth, in the year 1998, the expectation created by NeoTokyo, so much with its actions live as with its first two works, has given a lot to speak and, still without having their first album out, have become one of the most important references of the present underground music in Mallorca. Its industrial roots, melted with Japanese esthetics, ultramodern and at the same time traditional, its nature of multidisciplinary group , their love for Devo and Kraftwerk, drum n bass, dub... all has contributed that NeoTokyo opened the gap of a new conception in electronics that up till then, had not been seen in Mallorca.
The origins of the group went back to Los Crudos, one of the most important bands of rock of Mallorca, that during the nineties was converted, next to Sexy Sadie, in the most noticeable group of the local scene.
Music for nonexistent soundtracks, that would be able to compare with what are doing bands as Mouse On Mars or Death in Vegas, although with an instrumental and minimalistic, punk-rock concept. Example of it are their live, where the sound of the band multiplies their hardness, spicing their music with video projections and stills, playing among the image and the sound, among the rock and the electronics...

Pues la Fira del Disc ni la pisé, pero el directo de Neo Tokyo en su propio festival no se me olvidará en la vida.
Si en lugar de mallorquines fuesen escoceses (Mogwai) o canadienses (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) ya serían portada del Rock De Lux... por fortuna o desgracia son mallorquines y no necesitan el reconocimiento de la prensa para demostrar directo tras directo que no tienen absolutamente nada que envidiar a los anteriores.
Hoy por hoy están a años luz de la escena musical mallorquina, y me pregunto dónde puede estar su techo... desde luego el sábado quedó claro que han alcanzado su madurez artística y sólo ellos saben hasta dónde pueden llegar.
Tan sólo me queda una duda... ¿cómo lo harían en el PING un día antes?.
Se agradece poder ver cosas así en una isla tan pequeña e insignificante.

"The Primitchibu World" [i.e.: Word play between "primitive" and "private parts".]
This movie is not for your eyes only. Using the whole theatre space, it aims at waking all your senses up through an unprecedented live experience. While the movie projected,a live musical performance takes place. The actors in the movie show up in front of the audience and start dancing,going beyond the simple visual image,colorful matter capturing the heart of the spectators with love,making their soul move in a spontaneous childlike way. Film and reality, human and god, man and woman, adult and child, the shopping street and the universe, the material and the invisible,moving freely between these poles and reversing your consciousness. This story starts with a secret love poem about a pianist boy, who believes strongly a war will start once he's passed through a shopping street, and a florist girl. The kind of love represented in this movie is not standard. It's of a "you-can-do-whatever-you-want-if-there-is-love" flexible type. This film was made by Takeshi Shirai who started the "Primitchibu" project and Kasumi Hiraoka, a conspicuous new generation movie director.
