Neo-Zine has been around in one form or another for over a decade. We started out as a photocopy black and white cut and paste fanzine called
Neo-Barbaric! The zine was started to spread the word about the most unique, extreme, underground, unknown recording styles and artists out there. We have been successful all this time, and plan on continuing our success for a long time to come. We merge material from such diverse styles as noise, punk, death metal, experimental, gothic, industrial, black metal, ambient, darkwave, Neomedieval, shock rock, freeform jazz, joke-core, psychobilly, grind, thrash, hardcore, electronic, minimalist, abstract, spoken word, loop, basement junk, noise rock, horror, sound collage, sound sculpture, symphonic metal, power metal, crust, scum rock, sludge, psychedelic, doom, improv, punkabilly, and home taping. I'll bet there was more. We're all the same underground, we just express ourselves differently. The binding factor is that we are all outside the conventional norms.

I'm not too interested in getting any physical products for review anymore. It costs you too much, and the results...well you stay underground. Besides that, I feel that the true spirit of the underground is still alive in free downloads, free netreleases, and free trade of music through the internet. I didn't start this to build a kick-ass CD collection - I did it for love of the music and to help to expose the gritty underbelly of the music scene. So, sorry hipster indie trendies with your slick promo packages and CDs with embedded messages to keep me from pirating - I don't work for you - I work for me, and I decide what to review if (especially if I can't be made to feel bad because somebody spent money to send me a disc.
