Nerelisin (formerly Eliot Bates ve Kaliforniya Saz Arkadaslari): 4 Californians in Istanbul, playing really unique, arranged, and maniacal versions of Turkish popular, protest, folk and Anatolian ethnic music, led by Eliot Bates, an American musician with 14 years of experience performing Turkish music. Each one of our shows is very unique, whether they're featuring guest artists like VJ team Artificial Eyes, or programs of special repertoire (rebetika and syrian folk music are 2 recent examples)
They have quickly gained a large following of fans, mostly Turkish but some Americans, Europeans, and other wayward travellers, and smoothly move between sad deyis songs (everyone MUST sing along), to psychedelic Cem Karaca covers, to totally rocking Roman gypsy dance numbers.
The band just moved to San Francisco from Istanbul, where they regularly gigged at various venues (including Victoria Lokantasi and U-Turn Bar) and for private events. Let us know if you would like Nerelisin to perform in your hometown!
Be sure to regularly check here, and on our other music download site, for free mp3s, concert info, photos, blog stuff, and more. If you like what we're about, don't forget to add us to yer friends listings!
