Bio
NERO ZERO is a Los Angeles based Canadian Rock band conceived by three Kingston Ontario born eccentric musicians: vocalist Diz Thomas, his guitarist brother Sick, and bassist Rikki Twist. The band decided to relocate to Los Angeles after the completion of a U.S. tour (with their former act) that landed them in Hollywood, California. NERO ZERO was formed, and soon after, began the creation of their self-titled debut cd. Once recording was complete they looked back to Canada to recruit drummer Cory Hartless, a Port Colborne native. The NERO ZERO line up was now complete. NERO ZERO began writing and tracking the debut cd in their Santa Monica California studio, with additional recording support from Greg Pineda who offered up his Westlake studio to complete the sessions. In the fall of 2009, fellow Canadian and monster mixer Frank Gryner (Rob Zombie, Tommy Lee, The Crystal Method, Nickelback, Powerman 5000) met up with the guys at a well known coffee shop on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood and soon after came aboard to co-produce and mix the album. "Capturing all the force and power of today's Rock, the impact of NERO ZERO's self-titled first release is reminiscent of life changing debuts from legendary bands such as AC/DC or Guns N' Roses." - Dan Savoie – Rockstar Weekly – Vancouver Canada The guys in NERO ZERO stormed the Los Angeles live stages of such famous landmark venues as The Whisky A Go Go, The Troubadour, Ventura Concert Theatre, The Roxy Theatre, The Mint, and Universal City. Hype surrounding the NERO ZERO recordings soon leaked and several major labels tabled offers. At this time, however, NERO ZERO remains independent and releases under their own production moniker, RTR Entertainment, which is digitally distributed worldwide. NERO ZERO is available on their website, in stores across Canada at all HMV locations through IndiePool Inc., as well as all the familiar internet faces including iTunes, CD Baby, and Amazon.com. Commercial radio airplay on a global level soon took to the NERO ZERO sound and in late 2010 K-Rock 105.7 FM in Kingston Canada began to rotate My Own Addiction making this track the first single from the cd. In the spring of 2011, Los Angeles radio icons Heidi & Frank, from the infamous Frosty, Heidi & Frank Show, provided NERO ZERO with unprecedented national exposure in the Unite States when they added NERO ZERO's cover of the Rick James classic Super Freak to their show introduction, and began spinning NERO ZERO's album version of F**king A Rock Star during their talk radio show. Ickn May of 2011, the largest radio program in New Zealand, The Axe Attack on The Rock FM played an unprecedented four tracks from the NERO ZERO cd, a first in it's 24 year history. "This Nero Zero cd is awesome; I can't get it out of my player right now". Paul Martin – The Axe Attack on The Rock FM – Auckland New Zealand "This is incredible Canadian content and fits right into the K-Rock format." Doug Elliott, Operations Manager – K-Rock 105.7 FM – Kingston Canada Julia Henry, a Creative Supervisor at Fox Sports Television and POC Media, arbitrarily passed by an open studio door at a Westlake California Studio. What she heard coming from inside was an early mix of the NERO ZERO debut cd. She immediately recognized the commercial potential. When the boys in NERO ZERO invited Julia in for a listen, the rest was history. Since that time, NERO ZERO has been heard by mass audiences during live stadium sporting events across the United States including home games ranging from the NFL's Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers and MLB's Cincinnati Reds, to NCAA Florida Gators Football. Television Network plays include Fox, Speed TV, Versus, IndieCar Series, NHL On Fox, NASCAR and ESPN broadcasts worldwide. (see below for a more detailed list) This broadening exposure in sports television was a catalyst to a film, TV, and video gaming media sync licensing partnership with A&G Sync, who's offices are located in London, England and Los Angeles, California. NERO ZERO (self-titled) is an album jammed with stadium-crushing Rock songs. Tracks include F**king A Rock Star, a spoof which singles out the over-the-top hype-machined lifestyles of entertainment icons such as Gene Simmons of KISS, while the rest of the album follows suit with more over the top subjects such as King Of Rock City, My Own Addiction and Breathe.
