She had a hernia for a few years that they didn't want to operate on because they thought it was too risky. Apparently the hernia caused a blockage in her small intestine and the nursing home just thought she was constipated so they've been giving her tons of stool softener. Luckily when Mom went to visit for Christmas, she noticed Grandma had a fever and they ended up taking her to the hospital.
The surgery went well but she keeps trying to rip her tubes out and they are telling me it's going to be a long and difficult recovery = /
