Sounds Like
Live
"A set combining raw emotions
and some high-class musicianship, the highlight of which was a 3-pronged
roll of songs mid-set that went from the soft and melodic to the strong
and anthemic and finally onto the simple and nostalgic, and confirmed
their progressive rock tendencies."
Cornish Live Gig Review
"an assured set of hypnotically rich and textural songs,
reminiscent of Radiohead and Arcade Fire"
St Austell Voice
"Nervosa's songs
defy the current trends, opting for the anthemic over the
endemic. Not necessarily the band that would get you dancing round the
room like a deranged monkey, but quite possibly the band whose infectious
riffs and hooks would loop round your brain for days on end"
Noize Makes Enemies online music

"A skillful and captivating performance combining great
musicianship with considered songwriting leaving an enthusiastic crowd
truly entertained”

Review
"Nervosa
uncover individual lifestyles and influences with immense creativity and
the use of sampled break beats and synthetic harmonics flood the record.
Tracks like Breathe in and Black Box are monumental in their delivery
and pace, and lend something new with every listen."

Funky
Moped
“Set
the ray to Jerry...this fairly obscure b-side reminds me of this song... I think
it is great...this composition is cool as hell. That weird lead guitar is a
definite plus...Reminds ME of Radiohead and the Smashing Pumpkins”
“I
know this will sound insane, but something in the minimalism of the guitar and
vocals as well as the note selection reminds me of Bauhaus even though this
doesn't actually sound a damn thing like them…almost like a way hipper update
Nervosa shits out after swallowing Bauhaus via The Stone Roses.”
“Slow
and languid, definitely has a Floyd vibe to it”
“The
blazing guitars and rhythmic nature of the track give it an edgy, chill out,
atmosphere that is sure to please some of the most avid of listeners”
Breathe
In
“Good
to hear something a bit relaxed for a change which in this genre is unusual.
this track is solid and it has a strong flavour or sonicness like with Icehouse
or early punk sound. Nice to hear new sounds produced by such youthful
generations that resemble some of those cult bands we might otherwise forget.
This has nostalgia and that beautiful alternative ease of defiance. I love it.
“
“It
starts as "electronic", then adds some guitar/mandolin to make a sort
of folk jam with a hint of industrial and grunge and 90's alternative. The
chorus offsets nicely with the verse - earning my respect for it's fusing of
different styles in a cohesive, creative and interesting manner.”
“The
intro is kind of creepy, but then when the guitars come in it sounds awesome.
The vocals are very Radiohead, but in a their own unique way.”
“like
tiramisu. Light and fluffy, with different layers. You sound a little like PJ
Harvey.”
“it
sounds like early Gomez covering Radiohead, with a bit of Portishead
thrown in for good measure!”
Put
an End To This
“Opening
like a serene, 1970s twinkling Hendrix LSD trip this beautifully tranquil melody
is quickly turned into something a little more ominous by the strange, ethereal,
almost threatening vocals. As the song breaks from itself you're held for a
moment wondering where it's about to go, then it kicks in with a cacophony of
vocals lolloping over one another in glorious discordance... a sort of The
Polyphonic Spree pushed through a blender with Captain Beefheart and
Radiohead.”
Black
Box
"Reminds
me a bit of beatles'ish in a good 'pepper' type way not the horrible oasis
way..”
The
Chinaski Effect
"The
song has bitter chords used in the most beautiful way. The vocals
compliment every sound in the song. The transitions are smooth. I don't
think you could ask for a better song."
Nervosa are a six piece progressive folk band from St Austell, who launched onto the live scene in October 2007.
Nervosa performed at the Oxjam Big Top Weekend, and supported three signed bands, darlings of the NME, Sons and Daughters, The Victorian English Gentlemans Club, and Jimbob from Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine in their first run of gigs, with their live set being described in the press as “an assured set of hypnotically rich and textural songs reminiscent of Radiohead and Arcade Fire”.
Fresh Magazine wrote that Nervosas demo demonstrated their “immense creativity”, with songs that were “monumental in their delivery, and lending something new with every listen”.
Nervosa performed at the Cornish heat of the Red Stripe Music Awards 2008, the West Briton describing the line up as “the best of Cornish music”. See below for a review and photos.
Nervosa won an award for Funky Moped on the IAC Music site, beating The Chemical Brothers and NIN for "Best Industrial/Beat Rock Song of 2007"
Nervosa are currently in the studio recording their debut album, which should be completed for release by the summer, you can subscribe to their blog to keep updated with information.

sample? a sample? me? a sample? it's actually a white hot percussion quartet that i met when i slept rough on the streets of Tijuana. They nursed me back to health and then i married one of their daughters but it turns out that she was already engaged to a young pig that lived in the next town. During my heartache they taught me the way of the samba and my spirit has not danced that way since. Oh Tijuana, when will you come back to me.....
(all the beats and percussion are samples, none of that is actually true.) x
