Owner, Michael Litt, reinvented the west side cafe formerly known as Coco's. As a member of the local community, he simply wanted a warm and inviting coffee bar in his neighborhood. As he opened the doors of Nervous Dog in September 2006, he told reporters "I initially thought I was building something for the community, but as it turned out, the community became the creative force." Locals stopped by during the reconstruction lending advice on everything from decor to pastry selections to charitable alliances. Michael took their advice and has remained true to the community vision.
