    ABOUT FIRE TONGUE:
Firetongue was born in Cameroon in 1971, and has played guitar, keyboard and accordion since he was 6 years old. His first sources of inspiration came from churches, where his father preached the Good Book.
When he was only 13, a jazz-guitar teacher in Yaoundé took him on as an accompanist, playing in cabarets, bars, embassies, etc.
He worked with him for a year, then founded his own group, with Solo, a one-armed guitarist, a bassist and a rhythm box.
They decided to hit the high-road to adventure and headed for Nigeria, in search of new musical sources.
That's how he became acquainted with a nation that was into reggae, high-life, traditional music, funk, rock and afrobeat.
His music became a fusion of his clean and saturated guitar blues, based on rock and roots energy, with all of these other movements. He created a new style that soon became highly popular.
People listened and danced to his music in cities and villages all over country.
Then he discovered Fela Kuti. From then on Firetongue, already enriched by the spiritual inheritance from his father and his personal experiences, decided to add a cultural meaning to his music to stress the message in his compositions.
Nigeria was a much larger country, a space more suited to his kind of musical expression.
He met musicians from Rex Lossen, Étienne T-Boy, Geraldo Pino, etc. He became the opening act for Femi Kuti at the Shell Club in December 1995.
He lined up concerts for his group in clubs and luxury hotels, in villages for the employees of Elf, Total, Texaco, Schlumberger, etc. as well as on off-shore oil rigs and in love-hotels… In 1997, during his in-house contract at the Airport Hotel in Port Harcourt, with Desmond OSARAWI and GERALDO PINO he organized Fela Kuti's last two concerts at the Civic Center and the Airport Hotel.
The concert at the Civic Center lined up Fela Kuti, Egypt 80’s, Sean Kuti, Geraldo Pino, Étienne T-Boy, and Firetongue, with his band Phils Entertainment.
Fela Kuti's death brought to an end his stay in Nigeria.
In 1998, back in Cameroon, he played at the Fako Club. That's where Patrick Lambert, an impresario, offered to bring him to play in France.
Firetongue then created the T-Boys with Étienne (Gold record in Africa), Lewis, Édoube and Osuagwu.
When the got to Paris, they played that same evening at the New Morning Club, then at the Divan du Monde, at the Flèche d’Or, in the Fresnes penitentiary, etc.
A maxi-vinyl of T-Boys, Bring Peace, came out in 2002 at Straight Up, and was distributed by Discographe. Firetongue wrote, composed and arranged 4 of the 7 numbers.
The record was licensed to the USA, to Japan and South Africa. Then Firetongue left the group for a solo career.
In 1999, he did the arrangements for the performer Kaapi for the publisher Saravah, produced by Pschent/Universal.
Then he met the sound and mastering engineer from Translab, Michel Roche, a.k.a. Chief Cook, with whom he made the album WAYO BRING WAR licensed to Nocturne, which is due for release in April 2006.
Firetongue wrote socially-committed lyrics for the album, and composed haunting melodies with his magical guitar and keyboard. He created a new sound born of the fusion of afrobeat and new amplified techniques: «… Afro meets Modern Touch, in a Blues Mood… » Michel Roche, a.k.a. Chief Cook, supplied his talents as a programmer and executive producer.
If Fela Kuti's music was like fireworks, Firetongue's is more like a river. It is impregnated with a deep fluidity that gives afrobeat a new dimension, bringing modernity and sophistication to the ongoing struggle for dignity in Africa.
Firetongue voice is as deep and modern as his music: the power that it conveys makes him a truly outstanding performer.

About me:

Masthead Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com! Click here to make your own!..
Create your own banner at MyBannerMaker.com!
Photobucket Co-Founder of Getupandthink.com promotions and Booking Agency I am a French man educated in Britain, brought up by my father who dedicated his life to culture and music, Manu Dibango ,Don Cherry and Fela Kuti were freinds of the familly and very young my father gave me the bug for Roots and Jazz music.
But being away from France for ten years, i could say i was brought up by the rasta & Baifal Comunity in Ladbroke grove Portobello.

i have been in the music industry for 15 years, Touring The Souljazz Orchestra and Soon Orgone from the USa i used to be a percussionist in a British group called Misty in Roots when in college.
After i graduate from Cambridge poly not the University, i choose to put a stop to my personal music ambitions to concentrate on artists who have talent and deserved to shine in the light. I started organising live shows and became the manager of famous french reggae band XAYMACA, we settled at Picpus Studio Lasson, the Black panther famous french boxing school, to record for' Rappatitude' Compilation.

Bobun brassband ( Original members of Xaymaca) Live with Legendary pianist Michel Petruccianni.......
Thanks to Joseph and Simon Andrieux for this amazing video

My first release as a co-producer was a maxi of Samba yugo dieng from XALAM and a concert with his band at la Cigale with the help of Radio Nova ( M'balia) Guillame Albeck (ex Zomba) now PARIGO publishing.

After that i decided to create my own Label 'BILAL records' to produce MESSA-G along with One track with famous french rai producers Safy Boutella, a hip-hop act that was into P-funk rather then G-funk, we recorded an EP with Cip Payne & Gary Mudbone from P-funk Parliament that was a success. But the first group i managed that had big success was 2 bal 2 neg , we sold over 200 000 Copies ( PIAS) of the album'3 x plus efficace' and to this day it's a Hip-Hop classic.
Later on i met the FUGEES in Paris for their second album'Fugee-la', they were playing a showcase at a poor venue somewhere in the city to do the promo, i thought it was a real shame so i called the owner of the Hot brass to ask him if i could bring the Fugees to the show cause they were frustated not to having a decent show, i knew the Wu-tang was playing there the same day so when we arrived at the venue people went crazy over such a surprise , the fugees adopted me & i stayed two days with the them at their hotel exchanging ideas about making records and music culture links.
It is a fact that Afro beat is linked with Hip-Hop because of history, both are rebel music like reggae and they have played a very important role on Bass music & the youth of all generations thats why i call them BASS music: because Deejay's in Jamaica like U-ROY created rap with what we call' toasting', sound systems like King tubby's created DUB what is electronic music today like house, trip hop, techno and all the drum'bass scene (2 step, jungle and recentlty Dub-step...)
Now you see the heritage of roots music in action in all the new music spreading.
I believe music & herb can heal this World, we don't speak the same langage but we can hear: if you can't read you can hear.

i will continue to fight for Jamaicans to get back to thier African Heritage, African culture is the key to Wisdom, remenber what the 'prophet' Bob Marley said:
'The group we really hear from Africa is Fela, from Nigeria; y'know. From stephen Davis "Reggae International"

Dennis Bovell ( LKJ and Matumbi) echoes the thought. "I would say he was Africa's number one. He was a great composer, and that's more than a musician. The composers compose shit and any musician can play it. I think he was a great composer, full stop."
See you There at the Café Bonie on the 21 st of March and also @Scene Bastille on the 31 st of March for me new Selections : Discover African Scream Contest from amazing Afro Label Analog Africa , Seun Kuti's full album , Exclusive tracks from the next album from the Souljazz Orchestra as well as Soundway latest delivery Nigeria Special !!! MANU DIBANGO's classic ' AFRICADELIC' HI& Fly Limited Re-issue 100 Copies only Worlwide !!!!!!!!!

SEUN KUTI BACK FROM MONTREAL!!!!!!!!!!!
Check this crazy video 250 000 People loving his Afrobeat :

FEED BACK ON SEUN KUTI BY THE FINEST DJS WORLWIDE :
Played by Gilles Peterson, Karen P, Karl Injex, Simbad and many others....
"pure pleasure! afro disco beat at it's best Stunning full support from me ,and will also playlist on the radio mille mercis"
Laurent Garnier / FCOM
"Think Africa should make daddy happy! Proper afro beat!"
Mad Mats / Raw Fusion
"Who would have thought it? Seun Kuti? Egypt 80? Still Music? Well all of them came together for some heavy Afrobeat business. Seun slips into his father's shoes and comes through with timely lyrics, tight instrumentation, and fine backing vocals leading the charge. It's Kuti for the 21st century, y'all!"
Velanche - Urban Landscapes Radioshow/XLR8R/Giant Step
“DJ DRM @ Bastard Jazz here...*REALLY LOVIN THIS ONE!!!* -- both tunes are total fire! thank you! would love a 12" if possible..."
Aaron / Bastard Jazz NYC
“Gonna be playing these out for sure!"
Nick Luscombe / XFM Radio
“obviously great music! thank you very much for sending!"
Antal / RUSHOUR
“The Anikulapo-Kuti heritage keeps spreading all over the world! I have been a huge fan of the mighty Fela and Femi and also been aware that Seun has been a follower of his father, so I am glad to listen to him on a proper release with the legendary Egypt 80. The voice may be different, but the message is the same: let Africa rize and shine!"
DJ Keyser / Crate Soul Brothers / Tilos Radio / Budapest)
“2 top quality funky uplifting afro beat songs from the Grand Master's son - I am feeling this!"
ALEX FROM TOKYO / INNERVISIONS / PAST DUE
Paris DJS / Loik Dury & Djouls
. ....

The Music, the message 'Hope', the Afro-latin Brian Eno influence, she is as heavy as Alice Russel a soul sister from The Northen Soul Heritage in full effect of the 80's she should have been on Talkin' loud at that time.... And with a voice that reach N°1 in France and in the Uk, i heard she's coming back on a great project New Mix Afro-Cats !!!!
