About me:
Don't you love how its nearly impossible to read some peoples Myspace pages because the background picture is visible through the transparent boxes?
Isn't it cool how random hot girls who you don't know constantly send you spam friend requests?
It's a testament to Myspace's awesomeness that even the owners of 23" wide screen monitors still cannot view most Myspace pages from left to right without scrolling.
Why shouldn't Myspace remove third party widgets, and pictures hosted on other sites such as (pre-acquisition) photobucket? I mean this is there site, you the user don't have any say on what content you can add to it?
If you disagree with any of these statements, you might be ready to move on. Myspace was cool at first because it allowed us to connect with current friends and meet new ones, while also allowing us to express ourselves through god-awful use of (mostly computer generated) CSS. Myspace opened the door to social networking for many of us, but there is a whole new world of social networking out there and chances are, most of your friends are out there too.
facebook is an excellent alternative. It has many of the same features that Myspace has, but more importantly it has a clean interface that lets you connect with friends, without the unnecessary headaches and seizures that usually accompany a trip to a friends profile on Myspace. In addition, facebook has recently launched the f8 platform that actually promotes third party developers to create their own applications or "widgets" giving you, the user, far more choices for content on your profile than Myspace ever did. This means if there is something you think is missing on facebook, you can created it, and you won't be blocked, banned, or served with a notice from Ruperts Lawyers.
I have considered leaving Myspace altogether, and indeed I may in the near future, but I thought I would share my feelings of Myspace's inadequacy with you all in hopes that when I leave I can take many of you with me.
Just try facebook out, it might not be for you, but chances are it is.
