Teagan Kelk and Cody Wilson are from the band Near the Mark, but they formed this project for mellower shows that are more appropriate for acoustic music. This came about on the day of an Open Mic Night at Oak Bay High School. They'd been considering playing at it with the whole band, but a few days beforehand, the band hadn't made any progress on putting together a set so they decided to skip this gig. However, on the day of the show (two hours before it started), Cody asked Teagan if he wanted to do a few acoustic songs for it. So they quickly decided to play "Waiting..." by City and Colour and "Reserved", an original from our band. This first gig went well, so they continued to make a few coins busking these songs of the streets of Victoria. Eventually, they decided to call it a side project and gave it an epic name: Neverending City Streets.
So after that historical beginning, we wrote some songs, learned lots of covers, and played at many Serious Coffees around the city - not to mention busking. Those were some fun days, but after a few month we got a bit sick of our material, and the need for a fresh start arrived...
We are now writing that new material, and if it's good, we'll be talking to a guy who is willing to get us an EP done for an excellent price.
Teags asked me to keep him up to date with any all-agers coming up. Well here I am, up-to-dating like a total champ. We're playing our CD release party at the Fort Cafe (on near Fort and Douglas) this Saturday. Stop on by! Here's the facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/event.php?eid=83986642105&ref=share. Feel free to invite as many throngs of people as you like.
Wanted to say thanks for last Thursday evenings great entertainment...you were great!
I would love to see you at the Esquimalt Serious Coffee location again. We are now advertising in Monday Magazine and that should definitely promote all future entertainment here.
Let me know if you would like to book another date.
Hey dudes! It was awesome hearing you guys jam tonight. I loved the sound of the guitars together - and your harmonies were nice too! Were the songs you played your own tunes? Keep on jammin' and all the best in your musical adventures! Maybe I'll see you around. Peace, Andy
