Never*Mind is a rock band out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Formed in 2004, Never*Mind’s sound is drawn from a variety of contemporary pop punk and unconventional soft- rock bands. The band's all-around sound is geared to late '90s alternative rock, along the lines of Vertical Horizon - and today’s popular bands such as Boys Like Girls and Jimmy Eat World.
Never*Mind is currently comprised of founder Brett Lee (Vocals /Bass), Tom Forster (Guitar), and Cameron Smith (Drums). In the five years since the band’s formation, Never*Mind has accomplished many musical victories within the west coast music scene.
The band started off in Utah. Never*Mind was listed as one of the top punk bands for two consecutive years among Utah’s prominent indie scene. Never*Mind’s recognition continued on.
The band’s single “Not Forgotten” was featured in the movie ‘Take a Chance’ with Sarah Bell, Sean Carpenter, and Corbin Allred. The movie is a featured rental at all nationwide Blockbuster stores, and available for purchase at all major retailers including Target and Wal-Mart.
Never*Mind continued their media excursion with a featured live performance on Utah’s Fox affiliate morning television show. Another accomplishment of Never*Mind was an invitation to play at Utah’s Hard Rock Café for Capitol Records. The band obtained the attention of a label executive, however a change in the band’s management delayed them from moving forward at the time.
The band’s original drummer left to work on his own musical career. In 2007, Never*Mind made the move to Arizona to expand their fan base. Tom Forster joined the band shortly after. Never*Mind sustained their spotlight by playing live for a national BMX television series.
Shortly after Tom joining the band, they gained a new drummer, Cameron Smith. Never*Mind recorded their first EP called ‘Something Drastic’, which was released in October of 2007. The EP was recorded in Las Vegas at the renowned Tone Factory and under the supervision of Vinnie Castaldo. Other clients of The Tone Factory include the Vince Neil Band, Five Finger Death Punch, and Sony Records to name only a few.
‘Something Drastic’ was followed by a west coast tour which included Utah, Idaho, Oregon, California, and Arizona. With little promotion and no major sponsors, Never*Mind’s tour was successful. The single ‘Everyone’s Hero’ (composed about the passing of Brett Lee’s brother Eric and has over 50,000 plays on MySpace), off of ‘Something Drastic’ , propelled Never*Mind onto the national punk seen. Their fan base grew, their merchandise sales soared, and Never*Mind became a house-hold name to connoisseurs of west coast punk pop music.
While on tour, Never*Mind gathered a lot of on the road experiences to turn into material for their upcoming EP (also being recorded at The Tone Factory). The band’s latest single ‘This is Our Summer’ is based off of the band not getting to open for one of their influences, Boys Like Girls, as previously scheduled. An unfortunate turn of events disallowed Never*Mind to play in their home state of Utah for Boys Like Girls. The adversity created by the situation allowed Never*Mind to write ‘This is Our Summer’ which currently has 2,500 plays on MySpace without any promotion.
Some of the band’s Las Vegas achievements include playing for The Las Vegas marathon recently, with a broadcast of their show on Fox affiliate Fox 5 Las Vegas. Never*Mind also has the honor of opening for Story of the Year, Rise Against , and I am Ghost at the end of September in 2009. In addition, the band will be playing on the House of Blues stage inside of Mandalay Bay Resort for Las Vegas radio station, Mix 94.1.
Brett Lee (vocals/bass) has been playing professionally for fifteen years. He is a self-taught musician. Influences include The Beach Boys, Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue), and Axl Rose. Brett met his wife at a Never*Mind show. Most of his writing is inspired by his two brothers who have both passed away.
Tom Forster (guirat) has been playing professionally for eight years. Tom is also a self-taught musician. In addition to guitar, Forster also plays drums. Prior to Never*Mind, Tom was in the band ‘Promise Means Progress’. His influences include Steven Clark and A day To Remember.
Cameron Smith (drums) has been playing professionally for ten years. He has no formal training. However, Smith was a part of his middle school jazz band. His influences include Matchbook Romance and My American Heart.
The band continues to move forward. Their relationship with the media is being solidified with a deal signed between Never*Mind and TV PR. TV PR is an international public relations firm which handles A-List and developmental clientele.
Never*Mind has entrusted TV PR to direct of all their social media campaigns, tour promotion, and press inquires. TV PR has worked with The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Scott Weiland, Celine Dion and George Nastos (Rick Springfield, Glenn Hughes) to name only a few.
As the band continues to move diligently towards a goal of increased media exposure, they are also working on finishing their latest album (still to be titled) and remain functioning as a band whose goal is to make a living playing music.
