..ABOUT THE PROJECT
BALKAN HORSES Band is an experimentally created project by Krassi Jeliazkov. In 2000 he decides to gather together emblematic composers and musicians from 7 Balkan countries, and to combine their skills in a one-of-a-kind music formation. During the past 10 years a lot of world artist and artists from the Balkans have participated in the project, such as: Tamara Obrovac - vocal /Croatia/, Ramesh Shotam - percussions /India/, Vlatko Stefanovski – guitar /Macedonia/, Marko Ramljak – violin /Croatia/ , Theodosii Spassov – kaval, Stoyan Yankoulov - drums /Bulgaria/ etc. BALKAN HORSES Band has spread the magic of their music and traditions throughout the world. Tickets for their concerts are generally sold out in advance and the total audience to attend their performances is over 60 000 people. BALKAN HORSES Band - subtle combination of traditional instruments with the interests of the today society. Thrilling experience for every music lover. The contemporary view and sound of the Kaval and Bulgarian Tamboura reveal new defiance for interpretations in the present acoustic sphere. BALKAN HORSES Band will guide you through an unforgettable journey towards ethno and world horizons, saturated with virtuoso unisons, exotic melodies and Balkan rhythms.

VLADIMIR VELICKOV, kaval – BULGARIA A Kaval player from the latest generation of talented artist. He masters instrumental technique to perfection and improvises easily in different styles. He is able to expand the range of the instrument by applying specific techniques and timbre registers of clarinet, bagpipe, accordion and others. His music making is a skillful combination of jazz, fusion and ethno. Vladimir Velichkov played with world famous musicians like: Nick Mason, Matt Koopar, Nedy John Cross, Maikal Meisan, as well as with Ibryama, Stoyan Yankulov, George Yanev, “Kanarite” orchestra, “Bulgare” ensemble and many others.

KRASSI JELIAZKOV,fretless & 8 str. tamboura, ac. & synth. gtr. – BULGARIA
Creator, producer and manager of the unique Balkan Horses Band music formation. Krassi played as instrumentalist in the Big Band and Dixieland orchestras as well as various fusion and blues bands. He presents his professional skills at dozens of local and international festivals, such as the International Dixieland Parade – Dresden, Germany; Second Saloon for traditional Jazz – Prague, Czech Republic; Grand Paris Du Jazz- Paris, France… Author of the remarkable guide “Book for the Bulgarian tamboura” tracing the history and interpretation of this ancient Bulgarian instrument.
NIKOLAI IVANOV – OM,keyboards, voice & multiinstrumentalist – BULGARIA
Nikolai Ivanov realized his conviction about the synthesis of East and West ideas and the global “ethnologization’ of contemporary art. He uses instruments and motives taken from the BG tambura, tarambuka, BG bagpipe, instruments from the East-sitar, tabla, ghatam, sas, specific Tibetian singing mixed with acoustic guitar, forte piano, bass and electronic instruments, programming and samples . Founder of the popular ethno band “OM”, touring across the world in France, Germany Hungary ,Spain, Norway, Croatia ,Poland, Austria, Turkey, India ,Nepal, China. On May 16th,1996 “OM” together with musicians realized the highest concert in the world –at 5345m. at Kalapatar (under Everest) ,witch was registered in the files of Guinness.

NEVENA PETROVA,vocals – BULGARIA
Nevena Petrova is still a young singer, but she already has a remarkable artistic background. For a short period of time she has managed to pass through the educational system of world known choirs, such as The mystery of Bulgarian voices and The Cosmic voices. She participates in dozens of different projects, like Patrick Muller’s Les Grandes Voix Bulgares, Second face project; MaProject among others. Those projects led her to concerts and tours across Bulgaria, Spain, Sardines, China, France, USA, Hungary, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Japan, India and many more.

RADOSLAV SLAVCHEV,bass guitar, voice – BULGARIA
Radoslav Slavchev is one of the most talented musicians of the last decade. He is working with bands like Ahead, Studio X, Mastilo, Safo. He participates in the recordings of Valya Balkanska, Ivo Papazov /Ibryama/, Cecilia Long /USA/, Vassil Naidenov, Stoyan Royanov YaYa and many more. He plays in the projects High Time and Shakazulu – a massive musical project joining 13 young musicians. He appears as instrumentalist on all the jazz festivals in the country. For a short period of time Radoslav Slavchev turned into one of the leading bass players in Bulgaria.

EMIL PEHLIVANOV,drums & percussions – BULGARIA
His passion for percussions appears in early child age. This develops in Emil an important amount of technical skills and turns him into one of the best Bulgarian drummers. After he graduates NMA “Pancho Vladiguerov” he travels abroad and plays across Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Austria. He works together with the talented saxophone player Vladko Karparov in Germany, as well as with the virtuoso violin player Toni Sirov. In 2010 he comes back to Bulgaria. Thanks to permanent play opportunities he participates in bands like Mihail Iosifov sextet, The Big Band of BNR /Bulgarian National Radio/, Petur Salchev band and many more.
