Nice to meet you. I'll try to keep my sidewalk cleaner, but that silly string from the Mummers parade is not bio-degradable! Photobucket

That's the logo for Newbold IPA. Since we Newbold folk apparently drink a lot of Yards the Philadelphia Brewing Co. (formerly known as Yards) is naming a new beer after us!

I know what we'll be drinking at the next potluck.

I don't think we had any trick-or-treaters last year. Sounds like we should organize something scary for next year!

We don't get too many trick or treaters on my block, but I sit on my stoop from 6 to 8 for the ones I do get.

In case you haven't heard there's a new pub coming to the corner of Reed & Carlisle. The owners will be presenting to the planning & zoning committee at 6pm on Monday, October 22nd. This is going to be a pub in the sense of the Taproom or Royal Tavern. Actually, one of the partners for this project was responsible for yello'bar at Gray's Ferry & Catherine.

Is it possible to have neighborhood business owners come to our meeting to talk about their business? Not sure how to get them to come, but I am sure that I would love to know what my options are before I go to a non local store or restaurant? Perhaps they could even provide a discount or promotion for Newbold neighbors? Would love to see if the Taproom could perhaps host a Newbold Happy Hour after one of our meetings. IT would be great for them to welcome us with discounted food and drinks....Any thoughts?

Hi neighbors! Thanks to all of you who came out to the meeting the other night. It was very exciting, involving security guards and all kinds of verbal altercations! It looks like we need to make an extra effort to reach out to neighbors and existing groups before our next meeting. If you know anyone involved in the neighborhood in anyway, please encourage them to come out to our August meeting. I know that our desire to improve our community will help us to overcome the obstacles we will encounter along the way. I think we can now say that there is never a dull moment in Newbold!

Saturday, June 9th Community Clean-up from 9-12. If your block is interested in helping out and you want the city to come and drop off supplies and pick up the trash bags email me your full name, phone number, and full address (ahaneiko@state.pa.us). I'll forward the information to Clean Block Captain, William Stern, who will then contact your block captain to drop off the supplies. If your block doesn't have a block captain he will drop off the supplies to your house. Spread the word to your neighbors! Make flyers and hand them out with the time and date! Let's get a lot of people out to help clean up our neighborhood.
