The poignant, storytelling lyrics of Springsteen and Dylan...
the driving rock of Pearl Jam and U2...
the creative songwriting integrity of Radiohead...
and the explosive ambience of Sigur Ros...
This is what New Colossus aspires to. Thus far, the result has been an undeniably dynamic array of songs characterized by intricate piano melodies, soaring guitar leads, and euphoric crescendos. The atmospheric quality of the New Colossus sound combined with the sincere urgency of the lyrics provides a platform for emotional upheaval that few bands can match.
Inspiration for the band’s name came from a poem by Emma Lazarus that was written for, and is now engraved upon, the Statue of Liberty in 1883. The poem, entitled "The New Colossus," is as follows:
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame
       With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows worldwide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame,
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
The unrelenting spirit of rock and roll that is infused in the lines of the poem coupled with the immense sound and power of the band’s songs make New Colossus a fitting name for this young group.

Hi Luke, thanks for the add! I met the guys from Color Radio when they came into Chicago Acoustic Underground's studio. Unfortunately we couldn't record that night, but hopefully they'll reschedule!
Hey Luke! Listened to the music and I love Ever and After, you can hear a lot of your influences in that song (dave, bright eyes, springsteen). Keep it up :) thanks for the add!
When are you guys touring? LA is quite sunny this time of year as opposed to the negative temps in Chi-town. Look into a venue called Tangier...they have a great space and I can fill the place for you!
Hope you are well LUKEEE! Wish you'd play somewhere ELSE besides Messners on the weekends so I could KICK it like old times!! When is the Muellers BRO BDAY BASH? Im looking forward to my yearly appearance!Johnny V's anyone!?!?!? xoxoxoxo Ali
