Anyone who has ever had the courage or conviction to make their voice heard, poets everywhere, mc's that spit positive in this world of negative, artists, soldiers, freedom fighters, prisoners, mothers, daughters, sons, brothers, teachers, entertainers, vaudevillian mages, every single word written on these pages, and anyone down enough to grant us these times on the stages!
We have been blessed with a terrific venue in The Old World Deli, which allows us to return 100% of our door fees back to our top placing poets. Hosted by BC from the Northern California based Soul Smoke Spoken Word Syndicate, our goal is to keep the written and spoken arts alive and thriving in our community. We adhere to the following rule set: Original material only! Of course no props, aside from what is available to everyone participating(I.E. mic, micstand, etc...). No repeat poems in a single season, with exception to the finals. The usual 3 minutes, with a half a point taken for evey 10 seconds past the 10 second grace period, beginning at 3 minutes and 11 seconds. We use cumulative scoring, which means that if you enter the third round your total includes your first 2 rounds. And yeah, we go the full three rounds.
