I will not be blamed or shamed for having been a victim.
I have the right to be happy.
I have the right to be free of all forms of abuse; physical, mental, emotional, psychological, or sexual.
I have the right to feel my feelings.
I have the right to take care of myself.
I have the right to have my needs met.
I have the right to make choices.
I have the right to be loved in a healthy way.
I have the right to live without fear.
I have the right to express myself.
I have the right to forgive myself for things in the past.
About me: New Day Shelter is a non-profit agency that provides free confidential services to individuals experiencing Family Violence and/or Sexual Assault/Abuse. We also educate the community by making the public aware of the devastating effects Family Violence and Sexual Assault has on our society, the need for change, and that Violence is against the law, regardless of the relationship between the perpetrator and the victim. We believe each person should be treated with respect and has the right to live in peace and security. Our goal is to offer support, advocacy and encouragement, and to make options clear and available. It is every person's right and responsibility to make decisions for themselves. New Day Shelter staff is available for support, help and information at any time of the day or night.
It's the little things in life that make all the difference. Those little simple treasures in life that we sometimes overlook are the things that make life worth living and help give us a reason to keep holding on. Even when storms seem to toss us about in life, it's the simple treasures such as love, friends, happiness, smiles, laughter, hugs, etc. that let us know everything is going to be okay and it is in these small things that beauty can always be found. Never forget to take time to enjoy the little pleasures in life because those are what add up to create those big moments that cannot be described in words and have a lasting impact on our lives.
