Benny Green, Oscar Peterson, Phineas Newborn Jr, Hampton Hawes, Red Garland, Erroll Garner, Bill Evans, Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Herbie...you know em all.
Jazz piano player who lives on the seacoast of N.H. Graduated from UNH and NEC, now plays in and around New England. The Press Room Restaurant has become the main outlet for his art, playing with musicians from around the world. Main goal is to make audience happy, make them leave the gig feeling better and happier than when they showed up. Sticking to the trio sound that was developed by the likes of Ray Brown, Oscar Peterson, Benny Green, etc, is where he finds his sound. "I don't think people want to think when they see live music, whatever style it is, they want to feel uplifted. If it means you're playing something 'hip' versus 'bluesy' versus whatever...as long as it lifts up you've done your job." The New England Jazz Initiative is the newest group headed by Ryan. Comprised of Ryan on piano, Les Harris Jr on drums, Keala Kaumeheiwa on bass, and Chris Humphrey on Vocals, this group will perform and educate throughout New England. “Our goal is to educate, inspire, and energize the jazz community, whether it be in our recordings, master classes, or live performances.” I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
