  • Bio

From the east side of Columbus, Ohio, MK brings a hard edged country sound, spinning blue collar anthems over the wail of tube amps. Tight while harmonies add to the lyrical delivery, while a first class rhythm section lays down the beat.

  • Sounds Like

The album is like listening to a good friend's amazing stories over drinks while a rock-solid country band plays in the background. If you're like me, you'll find yourself listening to it again and again. "The Other Paper" Like many snobby critics, I don't have a lot of time for folk music, but a couple of spins of this record make the argument for keeping the disc close by. The band plays a pleasant blend of banjo-led Americana wrapped around the honey-sweet vocals of Julia O'Keefe. Keep your ears peeled, however, and you'll realize the band uses that sort of inoffensive musical language to convey much more mature lyrical themes. There is a veritable one-act play of pathos and interpersonal drama underneath the album's surface. Let's hope this thoughtful work is a harbinger of a musically interesting 2010. Bio:

.. Miller-Kelton was put together with an idea for simple songs which allow lyrics and harmonies to breathe. Songs are generally arranged with a two or three part vocal harmony over drums, bass and one or two guitars, possibly a banjo. Slide guitar parts try to transition the vocals in and out. We try to keep our songs accessible and our politics sharp.
