About me:
We are launching our November Dime-A-Day campaign starting October 30th. If you attend Vista, Rancho, Oceanside, or El Camino high schools, look out for students collecting change for our orphanage. The fundraiser will run until Thanksgiving break. The school that raises the most money will win a pizza party. Good luck and thank you for changing the lives of these kids!!
New Hope Children's Community is a nonprofit organization based in San Diego county. It began in 2001 with a pastor in Kenya named John Osolo who wanted to do something about the one million children in his country who had been orphaned by aids. John and his wife Mildred took 68 children into their church in Nairobi, giving them food, shelter, and an education. In 2003, a woman named Terrie Mayfield from California established an official organization in the United States to come alongside Pastor Osolo to raise money for the orphanage and raise awareness of the huge problem that the aids pandemic presents for Africa. New Hope's goal is to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, educational and vocational needs of the children and staff. We are currently constructing a permanent orphanage in Kisumo, which is one day's drive from Nairobi. You can visit the official New Hope Children's Community website at
Newhopekenya.org.
Last fall, a local highschooler started decorating and selling sweaters to raise money for New Hope. Pictures of the sweaters are currently up on the site. If you are interested in purchasing a sweater for $25, message us.
Random fact: New Hope is "Tumaini Mpya" in Swahili.
