Mission
New Leaders Council strengthens the progressive movement by identifying and recruiting new progressive leaders. NLC provides these emerging leaders with training, mentoring, networking, and job placement opportunities that equip them to be civic leaders, not only for elective office, but also in their communities and workplaces. Recognizing that a truly progressive movement is inclusive and empowering, NLC makes a special effort to recruit people from outside the usual power structures. NLC is shaping America’s future by developing tomorrow’s leaders today.

New Leaders Council (NLC) envisions a world where American political leadership is spearheaded by progressives who, through their unique experiences, bring to bear a practical and deep understanding of how legislative policies, corporate practices, and government and non-governmental actions alike impact all people's lives. NLC believes that leadership in every sector of society should be representative of the population and that society benefits when each person has the opportunity to participate fully in his or her community and its governance.
