Thanks to everyone who applied. We are listening to all your great music, and enjoying what you've sent. All artists, whether accepted for a showcase or not, will be NOTIFIED BY THE END OF MARCH. Please be aware that with so many subissions, we can't accept the majority of applicants. The reasons for NOT accepting artists usually fall into the following categories: 1. Artist needs to develop their craft further. 2. Artist needs to develop their presentation and career a bit further (yes, it's important for you to work on these aspects too!) 3. Style does not fit with our mandate to find 'new' music stars. Perhaps your music sounds dated, or too much like other popular artists. You need to stand out and develop your own style.
NMW BACKGROUND
New Music West Festival & Conference is the largest new music event in Western Canada. Over 250 international artists are showcased over 5 days in Vancouver, with an industry conference open to the public.
NewMusicWest was founded in 1990. Since 2004, NMW has been owned and operated by 29 Productions Inc., a Vancouver based company, specializing in music production (recording, composing, ring tones, producing and advertising), event production and artist management. 29 Productions’ head office is also a professional recording studio. This creates synergies, whereby if any NMW client or sponsor requires radio advertising, music creation, CD projects, ring tones, mobile campaigns or other audio services, 29 Productions can produce these in-house.
