THREE GATHERED IN BLOOMFIELD CT TO FORM THE M-80’S. THE COMMON PURPOSE WAS TO GET PEOPLE TO ENJOY AND DANCE TO CONTEMPORARY MUSIC WITH DRIVE. ASSOCIATED WITH THE PUNK/NEW WAVE/POWER POP MOVEMENT, INTEREST WAS LIMITED TO (A VERY DEVOTED) “THOSE IN THE KNOW” IN THE HARTFORD / NEW HAVEN / NEW LONDON AXIS .
FAST FORWARD TO THE NEW MILLENNIUM. THE RAMONES IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME! THE CLASH AND TALKING HEADS HAD COME TO REACH UNEXPECTED POPULARITY AND HAVE GONE, BUT BLONDIE, THE PRETENDERS AND NOW THE POLICE ARE ON TOUR! THE IMPACT OF THAT ERA ON TODAY'S MUSIC IS PROFOUND.
THE ORIGINAL M-80’S ARE BACK WITH THE ADDITION OF A TALENTED NEW LEAD VOCALIST, PERFORMING ORIGINALS AND OBSCURE BUT CATCHY COVER FAVORITES. WE CONTINUE TO BE INFLUENCED BY AND DRAW FROM BANDS WE HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO IN THE PERIOD SINCE WE “TOOK A BREAK” (NOT TO MENTION 60’S GARAGE BANDS WE “RE-DISCOVERED”).......
Gone Away is the business...Moondog gives it a right pounding...played with Tim's outfit, OPM, at Sully's earlier in the month; it was great to see him...sounds like all is well...
