The New Orleans Rhythm Conspiracy has both a short and a long history. Born of a hurricane, the Rhythm Conspiracy was initially conceived by Sally Stevens in July, 2005. During her Hurricane Katrina evacuation to Memphis she teamed up with fellow conspirators George Sartin and Jack Cruz to develop the group as a way to pay homage to and continue New Orleans’ musical and cultural legacy, a legacy that began with an intense rhythmic collaboration of two cultures – Native American and African – long ago in Congo Square. A grant Stevens wrote to the Higher Ground Foundation garnered the funds to produce the Rhythm Conspiracy's debut CD, "Dancin' Ground", the title cut conceived and lyrics written by Stevens with Spy Boy (& now War Chief of the Red Flames) Juan Pardo and Wild Tchoupitoulas Big Chief Roderick Sylvas and Wild Man John Ellis and music by Jack Cruz. Dancin' Ground is a call home to the city's people displaced by hurricane Katrina, and the further actions of uncaring self-serving politicians and businessmen.
Sally Stevens, is a writer, photographer, community organizer and cultural activist, known for organizing the New Orleans Blues Project, a music and cultural economic development project and the first of its kind. The Blues Project was also the managing organization of The BLUES HIGHWAY Millennium Trail, a designation received from the Clinton Administration’s White House Millennium Council.
Bassist, songwriter, arranger and producer, Jack Cruz is best known for his long association with Walter “Wolfman” Washington, as well as James Booker and Mighty Sam McClain.
As of spring 2008, the New Orleans Rhythm Conspiracy is becoming more than a band, and is forming into a collective, The New Orleans Rhythm Conspiracy Collective, to include all the musicians and artists involved in its three year evolution along with other musicians, artists and creative cultural enterprises in the city and region. A related enterprise being formed that will be under the collective umbrella is Rhythm Conspiracy Productions, a worker-owned booking and event production agency.
More information on the New Orleans Rhythm Conspiracy Collective, the coop enterprise Rhythm Conspiracy Productions, and the band will be available soon at our website, www.rhythmconspiracy.com

"I always think of people who suffer the holidays....the ones without anyone special in their life to visit with them, the ones who have lost someone dear to them and the ones with conditions that make this time of year difficult for them to cope. My thoughts and prayers are always with the ones who never know someone unseen does care deeply."
Hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday! Hugs, m
