Here's where a long winded bio begins that I manifested one steamy hot night in NYC.
While making a video with Katrina Del Mar for a song I wrote called Nothin' Pretty, I started New Professionals in 2002 in NYC. I never wanted to be a solo artist, but over time it was inevitable as I kicked out song after song and for one reason or another, whether it was the reality of drug problems within the band, alcoholism or in my case, the unfortunate murder of my brother, Derek Bellman, during the recording of the first record; none of the line ups seemed to roll with the punches as well or as resiliant I did.
I have had the priviledge of playing and performing with some of the best musicians ever and had a bit of bad luck playing with hobbyists passing themselves off as otherwise.
The first CD was titled Come Hell or High Drama. The latest CD is called Coffee & Medication. I am currently working with a really excellent line up gearing up for the touring of the latest record.
I have been in bands since I was 12 years old as a singer.... the name of that band was Spectre. Interesting to me now as I look back at what a spectre means....
I started playing guitar when I was 10 years old.
I have been in a few girl bands, heavy bands and a couple of stoner rock bands along the way. I have played with some musicians of celebrity but most with none.
I sacrificed my education, wealth and security of the "9-5" for rock-n-roll and I wouldn't want it any other way.
In 2005 New Professionals had 2 songs on the top 100 at Sirius OUTQ. 69 ILOVED YOU BABY and number 65 HAPPY GIRL.....OR WAS IT ROCKSTAR???? ONE OR THE OTHER. (this is why i have a manager now, thank god!)
I had to take a break after the last cracked out guitarist left me and the rest of the band standing in Times Square at Sirius Satellite station scheduled to perform live... we threw something together, it must have sucked cuz we were all freaked out.... yeah, reality is our guitarist at the time thought doing crack the night before and not showing up was best for him and us... oh well, right? We rolled on a bit more then by that summer I was pretty drained.... Actually I got a different line up and we cruised back to LA to record COFFEE & MEDICATION. That was a 2 month adventure, then I was drained and took a major time out.
did some acoustic gigs in dallas, texas and houston. then headed to LA to finish the mixing of COFFEE & MEDICATION and to try to continue with the cops out there on the investigation of my brother's murder....case is cold, at the writing of this it has almost
been 5 years.
do i need to say it? if anyone reading this knows anything about the murder of DEREK BELLMAN, please please get in touch with me, it's cool, we just need closure.
I have a total of 3 brothers and one sister. I love my family and I wouldn't wish this kind of loss on anyone, not even my biggest nemesis.
Back to my career in music and in life. There is nothing else I do better than sing, play and perform, therefore this is what it is for me. I am all you see and what you see and hear is what you get. I have had people fuck with me over and over again but I have never let it get me down, at least not for too long, maybe a minute or two. I have had people talk so much shit about me it's unheard of and hard sometimes to hold my head up, but I do it anyway and you know what? It's cool. I don't owe nobody nothing except myself and my maker to do the best job on this planet I can do. So if my music moves you in anyway, I am doing my job.
