New Ruins began as a duo in 2004 with Elzie Sexton and Caleb Means. The duo self recorded and released an LP ("A Collection) and two EP's ("Build A Fort-Set That On Fire" & "Hotter Months") before the release of their LP, "The Sound They Make" on Hidden Agenda Records in April of 2007. The duo soon expanded by added Roy Ewing on drums and Paul Chastain on bass/keys. After some time playing live shows, New Ruins began work on their 3rd full length, "We Make Our Own Bad Luck," which was released on Hidden Agenda Records in April of 2009. In late 2008 the band added a fifth member, Andrew Davidson on bass and drums. New Ruins has also featured the cello work of Aaron Wittrig and violin work of Rachel Dietkus-Miller.
New Ruins is currently working on an untitled 4th LP and playing shows throughout the midwest. They also operate Boombox Studios and record local musicians. For info on Boombox email aboomboxstudio@gmail.com. Contact New Ruins at newruins@hotmail.com
In case ya'll didn't know, there's a review of "We Make our Own Bad Luck" in the new Spring issue of (hipster approved) Under the Radar. It's in the "50 words or less" section, so I guess it's more of a blurb than a review, but still, I guess it qualifies as NEAT!
I heard you guys on the radio when I got close to Champaigne the other day, and it really made my day. I just wish the radios stations down here in Olney would play you guys.
