| General | Nick Tipp began his career as a producer in Seattle in 1998, working with local acts both in and out of the studio. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2002 he has functioned as a producer, songwriter, co-songwriter, recording engineer, and primarily as a mixer for a wide variety of musical genres ranging from Hip-Hop, to Indie Rock, Pop, Jazz, Country, and Classical Music. An Opera Nick recorded was released on DVD in 2008 won 2 Grammy Awards (LA Opera: City of Mahagonny). During 2005 and 2006 Nick produced and recorded a number of records in the San Francisco Bay Area. His efforts included work on a Corb Lund/Ramblin Jack Elliot collaboration which was also nominated for a grammy, this time in Canada. Equally comfortable in large commercial studios and artists' living rooms, Nick's approach to recording is highly influenced by his live recordings. His preference is to capture an artist in their most sublime environment; whether that's a vocal booth, a church, or a mountaintop. The performance is all that matters.

| | Movies | I'm currently working on a new project with several of my friends, right now we're calling it Kestrel Sound. We're in the business of recording anything and everything that's interesting or worth our while. Right now we're working on everything from big-band jazz (monterey jazz festival), some television pilots that include live bands that need to be recorded and mixed, to things as simple as singer-songwriter EPKs. We're working with a number of directors and can usually find a fit for someone's budget. There are both industry veterans and new talent looking to prove itself in our roster. Both in the audio and video realms. If you have and interesting project please talk to me about it. Even if I cannot help you I love to talk about creative work with people and have an abundance of ideas I usually don't charge for :-) |
