Sounds Like
A Heavy take on the Classic Bone - Guitar - Drums trio format that was popularised by Hal Crook in the 90's the lack of bass enabling the band to get on well together as a unit not having to spend so much time propping up the bassists ego allowing the trio members to focus solely on the uplifting nature of life lived through the conduit of music written with the intent to cross over into areas where other improvising groups have resided for various lengths of time but not fully developed into the crushing consuming NEWT sound.
Newt found its roots in the summer Festival environment of Edinburgh 2006. As artists of all kinds rubbished the beautiful old city in posters the trio worked away in clammy basement surrounds. The music that formed from those below-ground sessions became the intense, aggressive & sometimes forlorn sound of Newt. It is Scottish in its darkness, international with its influences & universal in its appeal.
The 3 members of Newt all contribute to the sound via compositions, criticism and spontaneous creation. Chris Greive is currently performing & recording with a variety of groups including Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Haftor Medboe Group & Salsa Celtica. Leading his own groups (trio, quartet & sextet) Graeme Stephen has recorded with New York Bassist Eivind Opsvik & drummer Stuart Ritchie (funded by SAC) & recently won the Jazz Services Promoters Choice Award with his quartet. Chris Wallace performs frequently with Paul Harrison, hip-hop/jazz fore runners Livesciences & vocalists such as Claire Daly, Todd Gordon & Sara Mitra while also having time to travel to New York (funded by SAC) where he studied with world famous instructor & clinician Dom Famularo.

Ooh you have even made your page look like a newt, although, like the album cover, I can detect this is not an actual newt but merely a representation of one. Aha.
