At the time, we all happened to carry our instruments with us everywhere we went. We didn't know each other, much less the fact that we all shared this habit. It was hardest for Blake, with his drumset looking something like Dick Van Dyke's invention in "Mary Poppins." Well, he dropped it one day, right as the other three of us were unwittingly passing by. We all stooped to help him gather his equipment and we immediately realized that we had a band. Johnny and Pico had their guitars, Mars had his bass, and the drums were practically set up already.
