New Writing New Worlds is a festival dedicated to new work and literary development. It provides an opportunity for talented, emerging playwrights and theatre artists to develop their skills and see their work realised on the stage.
The festival has been running since 2005 and has successfully developed and produced several new works from local Scottish and international playwrights.
Who We Are
Artistic Director- Suzi Simpson
"Whenever I needed advice, information suppprt, the festival organisers were able to provide this." (Andy Corelli, NWNW07 Director)
"It was good to see a piece that I had been working on for some time being produced, and well produced."(David Kilby, NWNW07 Playwright)
"Seeing other young playwrights works on the same evening also inspired me to challenge myself to write longer and more sustained work." (Phil Spencer, NWNW07 Playwright)
"NWNW provided a wonderful opportunity for me as a writer to see the full possibilities of a written piece realised, and also to experience the wonderful subtleties actors and sensitive direction can bring to a production." (Cormac Quinn, NWNW07 Playwright)
"The main influence on my writing has been what happens after the piece is ‘finished’ on paper. Re-working and re-writing in the rehearsal room is something many writers do not get to experience as they have nothing to do with the process once they hand their play over. I think my ‘performance draft’ of Lifesaving is far superior to my initial draft." (Rob Drummond, NWNW07 Commissioned Playwright)
Who I'd like to meet: International and Scotland based Theatre Makers.
