New York 69 are two nice guys who play the most intense, beautiful guitar & drums free-improvised music that they possibly can. You'd think they're named after a sexual act but they're actually named after a mileage sign on RT 17E. They had an idea to do a soft-core porn movie set to their music, but this has not yet come to fruition. If you want to be on the cast or crew let us know. Remember, no penetration. Adam Caine also has a trio called CAINE that plays his compositions. http://www.caine.tv/ or http://cdbaby.com/cd/cainemusic to buy the CD. Kevin Shea plays in Coptic Light, Mostly Other People Do The Killing, Sexy Thoughts and 1000 other bands, all of whom have myspace pages. Both live in the swank Williamsburg Heights section of Brooklyn.
I have a new track up from a forthcoming cdr entitled "The sum of any number of zeros..." with 12 duo-tracks with myself and drummer/percussionist Martin Öhman on Electronic Musik.
hope you're doing well. Friday, May 11, Daniel Bennett Group plays a double bill with orchestral folk-pop group Lost in the Trees at the Brookline Tai Chi Center. Show starts at 8pm (just $5). Hope to see you there!
Brookline Tai Chi Center is located at 1615 Beacon St., Brookline, MA. Just take the Green Line (C Train) and get off at Washington Square. Tai Chi is right there!
I've got a weekly gig happening with my band at a wonderful venue in Times Square. We'll be playing all original music. If you're in NYC on a Tuesday night looking for something to do, please check us out:
Also, (for NYC locals), I'm looking for some promoters. If you're interested in working for me p/t, please send me a message. It's easy work, you don't even need to leave your house if you don't want to!
"And then there was music and wonderful roses they tell me in sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and dew."
Hello New York 69,
After much sangre, sudor, y lágrimas (that is, blood, sweat, and tears) Mother Flux's debut recording is now available. Lester Bangs appeared to me in a dream last night reviewing my recording for the latest issue of Creem. Here's an excerpt: "It's a potent brew of throat-throttling, soul-checking, and manic progressive rock and rolling thunder. And they ain't banging on their bongos like a chimpanzee."
Click on the cover below for CDBABY's link to the album:
Check it out and let me know what you think. And stay tuned for the cd release party news.
wow! we nailed that down!
wordup!
props on the halloween 2004 retiring of the liner...I recently gave up on sunglasses at night...took me a long hard thought though to do it!
we should seriously do some playing soon though.
let me know what you think.
best to you,
MP
Man, I wish it were a rumor!
HA! I remember the first time I saw you, maybe you were plyaing bass in this band Electric Turn To Me at BPM, years back, I swear you had eye liner on...unless that was some other guitar player playing a bass in a rocking post sabbath rock band lead by a gal singer...anyhow, its a bit of a joke, seeing how I was playing in a post "Istanbul is Constantiople" band that same night. Inevitabley looking & sounding way to green....Anyhow, I am known (at least to myself) to be bit of a "storyteller" but I swear that was you...let me know, if I am wrong I own someone else a roasting to make up for a falsely placed one!
Anyhow, was gonna ask you play in my big band in recently, but I saw that you already had a gig, hence the lack of contact on that.
Anyhow, hope yer well, hope I didn't hurt yer feelings, and I hope we will do another session soon...its been too long.
Best wishes,
Mike "I also wore eyeliner once (1996-98???)" Pride
PS: btw: what makes wearing eyeliner a bad thing, actually?
