In 2001, Daniel Medina, a guitar player from Cabimas, Zulia, began pulling together a band. Several local musicians joined in on the project, initially a Progressive rock cover band. After a few months, the band wrote its first song: Recurring Images. Later, in 2003, the band entered a “new band” contest in the city of Maracaibo, a contest they would win.
This marked the beginnings of NEXUS, a prog-rock band fusing elements of metal, Jazz, and other music styles that have influenced the members. After several changes to the lineup (including Lindarwin Sanchez, Ilbrahim Osechas, Gianfranco Volpe, Héctor Medina and Henry Chavier), the band solidified into its current lineup, featuring Daniel Medina (guitars), Gustavo Bohorquez (Bass) and Darwin Lubo (Drums) in a musical confluence that is currently taking Venezuelan prog rock to heretofore unforeseen heights.
