Sounds Like
Industrial contemp grungy instrumental. It's only instrumental because I can't sing a note and would be too scared to even try.
If I could create a new genre I would say it's bouncy rock.
Mike started playing at the age of 6 when he was bullied into playing the cornet as it was a family tradition. His brother Rob, a lot older, played for the local town in Wales and later to become a musician of quite high status in the UK brass band circles.
Mike however never really fell in love with this instrument and longed to be a rock star like his idle Angus Young from AC/DC. Years went by, and at the age of 17 he ditched the trumpeting world of brass bands and bought himself a guitar. He began to train himself the art of Axe.
Already with the knowledge of music, this instrument felt easier and more at home to Mike. Hours and hours at home in his bedroom shredding away making licks, annoying the neighbors in front of his mirror. He then discovered a rhythm section in a crappy old Casio keyboard. That rhythm and the combination of chord progression, Mike really found his drive of creating music.
After about 6 years of a series of good and bad events that finally lead him to the other side of the world to New Zealand, where he picked up his passion for music.
In 1998 he wrote a drum sample sequencer software package called Sequbeat to help him with his rhythm section. He also decided to shared it on the net which gave birth to NezTech. Building his studio components and knowledge of other better software available for composition killed his Sequbeat software but also enhanced his writing capability.
Mike then managed to write some music that gained some interest by some New Zealand broadcasters that eventually gave him a pathway to APRA ( Australasian Performing Writes Authority ) and an agent to push his work.
So the fusion of Mikes music is currently Rock, Dance, Classical, Funk, Blues and Electronic. So Mike has written a few songs mainly for TV, Radio and Promos, but his aim is to break into the film world or even higher, maybe co-producing something with a like minded artist. The latest achievement was the New Zealand quarter final promo for the Rugby world cup. For publishing and catalogues go to Woodcut Productions
