Niall began his musical life at an early age in the Artane Boys Band. After joining the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland U18's in 1998, Niall began his classical training. In the years that followed, Niall was taught by John Walsh, James Cavanagh and Eamonn Nolan.
In 2007, Niall was awarded the 'Leverhulme Orchestral Mentor Scholarship' by the Royal College of Music, London. He studied on the post-graduate course for the subsequent two years with Paul Archibald. During his time at the RCM, Niall was appointed principal of the college's Symphony orchestra, and in 2007 and 2008 he was selected to participate and collaborate with the London Symphony Orchestra on their student side-by-side scheme. Since completion of his studies in the UK, Niall has taken lessons with internationally renowned soloists and concert artists such as Chris Martin, Guy Touvron, Reinhold Friedrich and Allen Vizzutti.
Niall was 2007's winner of the Dublin City Council Arts Bursary. In 2008 Niall won the concerto competition at the DIT Conservatory, as a result he performed with Irish Baroque Orchestra/DIT Baroque Ensemble at the National Gallery of Ireland. Recently he has given a recital for the Dublin Philharmonic Society and performed for the President of Ireland Mary McAleese, at Aras an Uachtarain.
Niall has played and recorded with most of the professional orchestra’s in Ireland, including several appointments as guest principal trumpet with the RTE Concert Orchestra. At home and abroad he has worked under world-renowned conductors, most notably Bernard Haitink, Valeriy Gergiov and Sir Colin Davis.
Niall has participated at festivals and international academies such as the Clandeboye International Festival, the Lachenmann Festival London (recorded live for BBC Radio), Melos Brass Festival in Greece, L'Academie Internationale d'Ete de Nice and the Italian Brass Forum at Santa Fiora, Tuscany. He was invited to perform at the 2nd International Malcolm Arnold Festival in Northampton, where he delivered a well-received solo performance to the relatives and acquaintances of Sir Malcolm.

Niall has enjoyed working with internationally acclaimed artists including Amy Winehouse, Boyzone, Katherine Jenkins, Chris de Burgh, Tom Jones, Curtis Stigers and Perry Como.
Currently, Niall is taking private instruction from Maestro Gabriele Cassone
