A little bit rock, a little bit blues, A little bit folk, a little bit country and a little bit everything else. Smokey, smooth, rockin acoustica. Post- Folk. Percussive rhythm guitar with a voice like honey.
Described as “An extraordinary singer-songwriter with powerful vocals…” (iamedia), and a "Bright Talent", (Galway Independant) melodic and bluesy post-folk artist Niceol Blue describes her music simply as "post-folk. Defying genres with her acoustic guitar and powerful voice, this accomplished rhythm guitarist and troubadour serenades crowds from curbside to club. In 2006 and 2007 she was voted a top ten finalist for the Northwest People’s Picks (Seattle Times), and she has played on stage at both Folklife and Bumbershoot Festivals in Seattle, and far reaching venues from Portland Oregon and Seattle Washington, to Honolulu Hawaii and all over Ireland.
Born in Oregon and now living in in the West of Ireland and loving it, Niceol spends her time between gigs, working on new songs, rehearsing with her blues band and recording. She has played alongside such local and international well-knowns as Artis the Spoonman and Seattle Jim Page.
Niceol is currently working on a full album, to be released within the next year.

Hey Niceol - That's a surprise! Have nothing over the weekend, but there are a lot of places with music, if you're looking. I'm still getting acquainted with them, myself. If, on the other hand, you're not in the mood for cross-eyed drinkers and red-eyed smokers, there's always Powell's City Of Books. I hope whoever it is you were mentioning who is unwell gets to feeling better real quick. All the best....
Hello Niceol - Hope you're well. A singing songwriting duo called The Lost Brothers are doing a free gig at the Roisin Dubh on the 5th of May, and are well worth going to see. They are from Ireland, but based in London at the moment. They were in Portland, Oregon, for a few weeks, recording their second album, and only headed back a couple days ago. Check out their myspace page and see what you think. All the best.
Thanks for being our friend. We’ve just posted some new live recordings from recent shows that we’ve done in Seattle, Portland and Bellingham. Stop by and let us know what you think.

Hello Niceol Blue :) and our respect for your support and voice!
Welcome to our list and thank you for becoming a friend of our children. The helpless must be protected, and those with no voice of their own must be spoken up for. Those who prey on our children rely on SILENCE, and it must not be allowed to continue.
Thank you for adding your voice to ours, together the call will grow louder...AND WE WILL BREAK THE SILENCE.
I’ve been singing this for years now and here are the words I sing... I first heard of it from Sean Ryan (Whistle Maestro) and as he had no melody, I made up my own... (As heard on the Christy Moore "Box Set" recording.)
Some say it was written by Padraig Fallon. (Poet of Athenry, Galway) and others attribute it to Brian Mc Mahon (Writer of Listowel, Kerry)
The Grey Lake of Loughrea.
My heartstrings make me music if I but think of you, And if you would call me darling, I would wear a feathered shoe, I would swim the Suir, the Slaney and the Shannon any day’ Just to talk with you, lovely lady and to walk you round Loughrea.
If I owned all Portumna and the markets of Athlone, All the walls and all the money belonged to Limerick town, I would part them to your people, if you'd let me presume Just to walk with you, lovely lady, and to be your Squire in Tuam.
Oro! Fair maid but it's easy to blame the wastrel now. For who was ever able for to harrow with a plow? Not reared was I for labor or to watch the seasons play But gambling, sport and dancing they lost me my Loughrea .
In her grey house by the water, my love is dwelling still, She's the moon's only daughter, oh! Lamp upon the hill, She may braid her hair at evening while those who walk the way, They think it's the moon that's rising o'er the grey lake of Loughrea.
Last night, abroad in London, I spent my only crown; I toasted my own sweetheart and after cried tears down. I walked the lamps till morning and I heard you hark away, I wished I were the red fox that you hunted round Loughrea
Oh, Lent may last till Easter and after summer comes, With fasting and with feasting when the slow bush buds in full bloom, The Queen of Hearts is lonely for her joker still to play, I will lead and take her from you, strong man of Loughrea..
