| About Niceville Dog Park |
|
The Niceville Dog Park was constructed in 2002. This fenced in area is 4 acres with plenty of shade trees and running space. It is located off Hwy 85 just north of the soccer/football fields. The location is also well know for holding the annual "Mullet Festival". There is a double gated entrance for extra safety. Dog owners can let their pups stretch their legs and run leash-free on the site with no worries about cars, etc. There are many visitors that attend daily, but we are always looking for new faces both human and K-9. All breeds of dogs, big and small, come here to play together. There is no separate area for small dogs though. Every once in awhile you'll see a little friction between dogs, but no big fights yet that we are aware of. Most of the dogs always run up to the gate to greet the new arrivals. The park provides a water station with a continuous fresh supply for the dogs. People have donated disposal bags, chairs, frisbees, balls, and other toys for the dogs to play with. There really are not any written rules for the dog park. The only request is that EVERYONE is expected to clean up their pets waste. As you walk in the gate, a big sign says, "If your dog poops, please scoop".
Visitors come from Crestview, Ft. Walton Beach, Shalimar, Destin, and other surrounding areas. We are grateful to have such a large area set aside for our dogs. Hours are from Dawn until 10pm. Bright lights automatically turn on at dusk for those who are unable to get out until later in the evening. Please use the park at your own risk. Parents should use caution with small children. Observe a dog's body language when approaching them. Other than that, just have fun with your pooch in this leash-free environment!
